I learned ard that you can't do for example 5×7 you can't switch to the opposite like 7×5 beacuse that will equal a different number. And like you said the groups are first before what you put in your groups.

I learned that theres a row and a column. If your doing 3x5 first you would start with the row and then the column. For example if you do 3x5 you would do three groups of five or three rows of five. Also 5x3 equals the same product but it's not the same way to get to the product. If you have 5x3 you would do five groups of three or five rows of three.

I learned what an array was. An array is when you have group of objects and you put them into rows and columns. Example let's saw we have a block of 15. Right now you have 5 columns and 3 rows. If you do 3x5=15 because you have 5 columns and 3 rows.

Multiplication is basically repeated addition except it's faster to get to the answer. For example, if you do want to do 8+8+8+8+8+8+8+8 it would take you FOREVER to figure it out, so you could change it to 8x8 and you would get the answer which is 64. So basically multiplication is a shortcut to the answer.
-Josh
