Masing- masing adalah entity yg berbeza dan mempunyai kelebihan tersendiri. (1) Apa itu MBOT? MBOT adalah Malaysia Board of Technologist, salah satu badan professional yg ditubuhkan oleh kerajaan sama seperti badan professional yg lain seperti BEM (Board of Engineer), LAM (Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia), LBJM (Jurukur) dan sebagainya. Idea penubuhannya bermula pada Rancangan Malaysia RMK-10 (2011- 2015), pada Ketika itu di Malaysia, hanya 10% pelajar sahaja yg mendafatar dalam upper level secondary TVET jauh daripada OECD countries (negara maju/membangun) yg mana enrolment sebanyak 44%. Jadi pihak kerajaan menubuhkan MBOT pada tahun 2015 dengan objektif untuk meluaskan access kepada high quality Technical & Vocational Education Training (TVET) dan menukar Malaysia kepada negara berpendapatan tinggi. Sebelum ini MBOT adalah agensi dibawah MESTECC dan sekarang ini telah diletakkan dibawah MOHR (Human Resource) yg adanya agensi seperti DOSH, JPK dan lain-lain. (2) Apakah fungsi MBOT? Bukan dah ada BEM? Seperti yg kita tahu, BEM adalah badan untuk mengawal selia kerja-kerja Kejuruteraan bagi Graduate Engineer, Professional Engineer, Inspector of Works (IOW) sehinggalah kepada bodies yg menyediakan khidmat kujuruteraan (checker, ECP, etc). Manakala MBOT pula adalah untuk Technologist and Technician fraternity, misi MBOT adalah untuk meningkatkan kedudukan, visibility dan juga pengiktirafan kepada Technologist & Technician sebagai bidang professional sama seperti Ir. (Professional Engineer). MBOT mengambil rujukan daripada Canadian Council of Technician & Technologist tetapi diubah untuk memenuhi local requirement. (3) Apa beza Engineer, Technologist, Technician? (e) offer, donate, seek, or receive any contribution, directly or indirectly, that could be perceived as having the effect of influencing the award of a contract.

29. Restrictions on making payments or placing contracts.
In connection with work on which he is employed, a registered Engineer in an Engineering consultancy practice shall not be a medium of payment made on his client's behalf unless his client specifically requests it, nor shall he place contracts or orders on his client's behalf unless he has his client's authority.

31. A registered Engineer not to intervene or to take over the work of another.A registered Engineer shall not directly or indirectly :
(a) supplant or attempt to supplant another registered Engineer; (b) supplant or attempt to supplant another registered Engineer; or (c) supplant or attempt to supplant another registered

(b) intervene or seek to intervene in or in connection with any engineering activity that has already been entrusted to another registered Engineer to his knowledge; or

(c) assume responsibility for any work performed by that other registered Engineer for the same client unless he has:

ii)been formally notified by the client that the services of that other registered Engineer have been terminated in accordance with the provisions of any contract for professional engineering services entered into between that other registered Engineer and the client, provided that the client may request the Board to be the stakeholder in the event of a dispute over non-payment of fees or the quantum of any outstanding fees under the contract.

32. Restrictions on being a director, member or shareholder of contracting and manufacturing company, etc.
(1) A registered Engineer in an Engineering Consultancy Practice may not be a director or executive of, or a large shareholder in, or an agent for any contracting or manufacturing company or firm or business related to building or engineering unless the Board has given its previous consent.
(2) If such approval is granted, such registered Engineer shall not engage in any contract work for professional engineering services in such project unless it is a "design and construct" project.

33. Disclosure of interest.
While acting in his professional capacity, every registered Engineer must inform his client in writing if he is a director, member, or substantial shareholder in, or agent for, any contracting or manufacturing company, firm, or business with which he deals on behalf of his client, or if he has any financial interest in such a company, firm, or business.

    Procedure of Registration of Engineering Consulting Business

    1. Registration with Companies Commission Malaysia

    • The setting up of an engineering consultancy in Malaysia firstly requires the intended professional to register with Companies Commissions of Malaysia (CCM) under the Registration of Business Act, 1956 or incorporate a company in Malaysia under the Companies Act 2016. It is worthy to note that a foreign company cannot conduct business in Malaysia unless it incorporates a local company in Malaysia or registers a branch in Malaysia
    1. Registration with the Board of Engineers Malaysia
    • Under the RE 1967, โ€˜Engineering Consultancy Practiceโ€™ is defined as sole proprietorship, partnership, or body corporate, providing professional services, registered under Section 7A or 7B. Any candidate who applies for registration as a Professional Engineer must fulfil certain criteria, such as:
    (i) having registered as a Graduate Engineer with BEM and having satisfied training requirements with BEM;

    (ii) having passed the Professional Assessment Examination (PAE) of BEM or is elected as a Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers of Malaysia (IEM); and

    (iii) having been residing in Malaysia for a period of no less than six (6) months immediately prior to the date of application.
