This case led to the start of desegregation to all schools in the U.S. Prior to the ruling, children like Olivia, were denied access to white schools in Topeka, Kansas, due to the Plessy v. Ferguson case which states the facilities could be separate but of equal equality. The Brown v. Board of education case argued against it and ultimately won.

Now, the Brown v. Board of Education case was 65 years ago, and the states still struggle with the equality of education. Many schools still struggle with attendance, and disciplinary actions with the African American community over their white peers. Many African American students are still underrepresented.

Overall, the Brown v. Board of Education made strides in the history of education because it desegregated the schools. This gave many African American students the rights to a better education, and a school closer to home. While they weren't welcomed to the schools at first, especially in the south, it was a great step in the Civil Rights Movement. Without the Brown v. Board of Education case, schooling would most likely not be what it is today. Even though many school still struggle to represent the African American community, it is still way better than what it used to be. This case made it possible for children for generations to come to be able to access a good education and go one to really make something of themselves, whereas that might not have been the case before the court ruled the Plessy v. Ferguson case unconstitutional.
