My family has always had their opinions on politics, their values, beliefs etc. I believe that, of course, some of those belief will always stick with me and I will always believe in them; however, I have had conversations on issues with members of my family where we do not see eye to eye. For instance, my mother and I had a long conversation on our stance with the Pro-choice and Pro-life topic where we just did not agree and then I eventually ended it with agreeing to disagree.

I have very strong-minded and opinionated friends when it comes to topics of political socialization. I enjoy our conversations on these different topics as we learn more and more about each other. There have been many situations where just talk about our different beliefs and ultimately just learning about each others' religions, views, and values rather than disagreeing on our different perspectives.

Social Media has been the most impactful and the only source of news for me this past year of events. The way social media has been used has its many flaws; however, it is also one of the most impactful towards taking action with Gen Z's support and attention as it can greatly influence their opinions. When I see news and shocking information on social media, the way it is posted can affect the way I view the topic behind the post. Also, the more and more people I see repost or post about in general convince me that I have to follow along and do so as well. The photo I included is of an Instagram account that posts about issues that are going on in our country and in other countries around the world.

Teachers around our school have done a great job in being neutral about their political opinions around their students. They have also greatly supported students and their own opinions as they usually let them talk or debate without pushing their own views onto them. Throughout my years in high school, I have noticed that the same history textbooks have been used for the longest time. This can provide a student with limited information and views on what they could consider when developing their own opinion.

I am a LDS Filipino girl that is a part of the Student Council at our school. My religion and culture is expected to take a huge part in my views on politics; however, with me, that is not the case. It is known that people of my religion think a certain way of topics like abortion, and I completely disagree with their stance as I am pro-choice. Also, as a Filipino my culture is very religious and very devoted to their religion and their beliefs; whereas, I choose to only consider their view but not let it completely impact my decisions. Being a part of Student Council usually means that you are knowledgable about the government and politics since we participate in elections. I am not as educated and knowledgable on politics as expected, but I do understand the important of it and the impact of every vote and citizen.

I believe older generations have different beliefs on certain things than the people of Generation Z and that it does cause a mild disconnection between our generation and the older generations. We believe in more ideas that represent someone as an individual and that can support ones that have been fighting to have their people seen. Being a member of Generation Z makes me believe more in fighting for what is morally and ethically right rather than just following the stance of a certain religion or group. I think many others of this generation including myself believe in not letting anyone completely influence their opinion since we are quite stubborn but strong-minded.

2024 Presidential Quiz

Without much information on the candidates of the election beforehand, my results were surprising but understandable considering my view on certain topics. I learned that I care most importantly about the government taking more action and addressing social inequality, corruption, and assistance for its citizens. One unexpected factor that I learned was that I side more with "regulation" meaning that I believe the government should regulate business activity to ensure no one is taking advantage of the system. I have never thought about that topic before but these results have shown me that I may care more than I thought. Also, towards the end of the quiz, I decided on completely random people for the ballot section since I did not know about most of the people named as choices. However, I ended up choosing the people that the quiz shows I agree most with which I found really fascinating so I continued to learn more about them. The results of my quiz say that I might want to associate with the Democratic, Green, Socialist, and Peace and Freedom parties which I found very interesting since I have not heard of half of these parties, but I am open to hear more about them.
