Okay for the poetry blog, I chose to read and analyze "Lose yourself" & "Without Me" which are sung by one of my favorite rap artists, which is Eminem. Now he did not grow up in the best environment, which is where these two songs come in because they tell his life story. Actually, now that I thought of it there is also that movie my dad watches a lot called "8 Mile"
Now going into the first song called "Lose Yourself" which is a song I work out to goes into how Eminem grew up in a rough neighborhood in Detroit, Michigan. Additionally, it then mentions all the struggles and problems he had not only on the outside but also internally. For example how he had a lot of problems with his own family or street violence. And with this, he explains how the way he grew up lead to a life of constant collapse or could lead to it, which is where I wanna bring up a line from the song which shows the collapse. "Lonely roads, God only knows, he’s grown farther from home he’s no father he goes home and barely knows his own daughter.” Now analyzing this line we can see how he is talking about how we had a kid at a young age and he did not have the best relationship with his daughter and he is criticizing himself for being a poor father and wants to communicate and try to help people mainly fathers not make the same mistakes he makes. Something else to note is how he is also trying to communicate how the kind of life he lived is not rare and is very common, and he wants to let them know to get out of that kinda life if they get the chance because opportunity comes once in a lifetime.
Now in the song "Without me" this song connect's to parts or certain time periods in Eminem's life because it talks about his mother and how she was a bad influence on his past life. More so how she was an inner demon which he conquered and moved past, also he mentioned in the line " “I just settled on my lawsuits Fuck you, Debbie.” So fun fact is that I did not know who Debbie was until I did some investigation or googling. Which I then found out is his mother. Which now that I look at it was kinda obvious, but back to the point in that line he is describing how he got his lawsuit figured out which his mother put into place due to him not wanting any part of her nor any interaction, but more importantly he really did not want anything to do with her. Honestly, she was aiming for getting some money out of him due to him putting that lyric of her in his song that might I add on he wrote letter by letter. More importantly, I don’t blame him for not wanting anything to do with her because she caused a lot of hardships and pain in his past and was not motherly in the least.

In conclusion, I personally believe that the songs that Eminem writes or raps have a lot of meaning behind every single letter because he is al lyricist and some of his songs go into some heartbreaking stories. Some examples are "Lose Yourself" & " Without ME" because they both go over his young life which includes his mother and the experiences he went through to get where he is. I also see Eminem was a great inspiration not just to me but to the whole world by describing and turning his life story into some dope music. But he kinda uses poetry in his music and I believe somewhere when I was looking into him he was trying to help children who have gone or are going through the abuse from family members, or gang violence, or even living in a rundown house, etc. Some honorable mentions in some of his songs could be "I'm Not Afraid" & " Godzilla" & one more " Love the way you lie".
