         <description><![CDATA[<div>Mixed feelings depending on the day...opinion 1: High 80's or low 90's...if you are having a student learn a skill and you tell them they are "proficient" in this skill it means they can do it well, so what grade would they expect if you told them they did well?&nbsp;opinion 2: if graduating is determined by being proficient, then the number should match what it takes to get a diploma, or only slightly higher, low to mid 70's</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Merriam-Webster:&nbsp;<strong><em>Proficient</em></strong> usually describes pure ability that comes from training and practice.&nbsp;<br><br>If set at a 75 (average grade on a 50 to 100 scale) means sometimes they can and sometimes they can't. Not sure that's what we as educators and/or our students should be shooting for. In the last few years (pandemic aside), we have been systematically lowering the bar. At a minimum, shouldn't "proficient" at least mean more often than not?&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
