Before the Golden Age of Athens, a poet, Homer, played a major role in the development of Ancient Greek literature by creating 2 poems detailing the hardships of war, tragedy, and adventure. Both of these poems are now used as outlines for modern day writing. Theater, during the classical period, was another way that Ancient Greek literature was aided in its development. Playwrights would create comedy or drama and showcase it regularly among their society and a few authors have even made their plays into role models through their perceptions of true human struggles.
