We are the Kwagee innovators from the Akelia -Lena Resource Center Monrovia, Liberia.

We are innovators, big dreamers and researchers. We represent an institution that nutures the mind of young people ranging from ages 2 - 14years. STEAM is new to us yet we are passionate about the project.

As per our group research, we are gathering some facts about garbage 🗑️ management and sanitation which is one of the critical issues that is affecting our environment.

We are also engaged in beauty exhibition that helps to promote our students artistic values.

Additionally, we are concern about carrying out awareness about drugs abuse amongst the youths.

Our mission is to grow and learn beyond the classroom. We’ve built a strong relationship with the Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST). As part of this, we were honored with the opportunity to visit their satellite operations offices and gain insight into the journey behind BOT SAT-1, Botswana’s first satellite. The experience gave us real inspiration and a vision for what we, as young Batswana, can achieve.

We’ve also participated in national coding clinics through The Human Resource Development Council (HRDC), where we continue developing key skills in programming, data handling, and digital problem-solving — all essential for future careers in science and technology.

Our club has a new partnership with UniPod, the University of Botswana’s innovation and technology hub. This collaboration aims to foster deeper engagement in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) through hands-on learning, research, and innovation-driven projects.

The partnership builds upon existing initiatives that promote practical applications of robotics, coding, and automation among secondary school students. Through this collaboration, students will have increased opportunities to access mentorship, participate in joint innovation challenges, and develop community-centered solutions that address real-world problems using technology.

This collaboration with UniPod represents a significant step toward bridging the skills gap between secondary and tertiary education. It also aligns with Botswana’s vision of nurturing a knowledge-based economy driven by innovation and technological advancement.

STEAMaholics isn’t just a school team. We are not only a movement of young minds preparing to shape Botswana’s future, but also committed to empowering young innovators and strengthening the pipeline of future scientists, engineers, and technologists who will make meaningful contributions to Botswana’s development-boldly, creatively, and together

The club participated in the BOTSAT-1 project, in collaboration with BIUST,

Students explored satellite navigation systems using GPS receivers and IoT technology to support applications in precision agriculture, land management, and environmental monitoring.

This initiative builtcapacity in space science and data-driven decision-making.

It explains why people can float easily in the Dead Sea.

This bridge is like life: it needs balance,strenght,care and creativity. Just like STEAM, it connects everything together,science, techonology, engineering, art, math into something strong and alive.

For this project, students created an Augmented Reality experience that shows a 3D model of a human vertebra. The goal of this project is to use technology to make learning about the human body more interesting and interactive.

To make the AR experience, students used a website called Blippar, which allows users to create augmented reality experiences by linking a 3D object to a QR code. On the Blippar website, they uploaded the 3D model of the vertebra and generated a unique QR code that activates the model when scanned.

When the QR code is scanned using the Blippar app or camera, the 3D vertebra appears on the screen as if it were placed in the real environment. This allows one to move around the model, zoom in, and observe each side of the vertebra in detail.

This project helps students understand how AR technology can improve education, especially in science and biology. By using augmented reality, students can visualize complex structures like bones and organs in a realistic and engaging way. It combines creativity, technology, and learning in one activity.

Materials include a balloon, bottle caps, cardboard, and glue.

STEM integration:

Science: The project demonstrates Newton's third law of motion, as the escaping air from the balloon generates forward propulsion.

Mathematics: The project incorporates measurement skills, specifically in determining distances and lengths for the cardboard components.

Through our own models, experiments, and creative designs, we show how airplanes stay pressurized, how safety systems work, and how pilots use math and technology every day to keep passengers safe above the clouds. ✈️🌤️

This presentation explores how the Great Pyramid of Giza stands as a timeless example of STEAM in action:

• Science guided its design through physics, materials, and astronomy.

In a year where innovation took center stage, Team Horizon rose boldly to the challenge—designing, modifying, and programming a robo car that became nothing short of a masterpiece. What started as a simple chassis transformed into a precision-engineered, competition-grade machine, powered by creativity, teamwork, and fearless experimentation.

From sleepless coding nights to relentless mechanical tweaking, the team pushed boundaries. They refined steering systems, optimized sensor feedback loops, perfected acceleration timing, and embedded intelligent automation that responded to obstacles like a seasoned driver. Every gear, every line of code, and every calibration echoed the ingenuity of young minds determined to make their mark.

When the big day arrived—facing off against some of the most prestigious schools in Botswana—Team Horizon’s innovation spoke for itself. Their robo car glided through challenges with surgical accuracy, turned corners with mathematical grace, and tackled tasks with unshakable consistency. The crowd watched. The judges nodded. The results were undeniable.

🔥 Team Horizon, didn’t just compete… it redefined what’s possible.

Through AR, empty spaces between buildings can be turned into paths of blooming flowers, waiting areas displayed messages of encouragement, and treatment spaces featured symbols of resilience such as strong trees and warm lights.

These enhancements wont only beautify the building—they will change how people feel inside it. Staff will smile, families feel reassured, and patients will experience moments of peace and renewed strength. The project will demonstrate that when we combine innovation with empathy, we can create environments that support healing on every level.

With teamwork and brainstorming, we created more than just an app — we built a tool for success. Students can now access revision notes, past exam papers, and marking schemes — all in one place. STEAMaholics is proof that when Science, Tech, Engineering, Art, and Math come together — learning becomes unstoppable!"

To achieve this, club members were divided into groups, each tasked with researching and brainstorming innovative ways AR can be used in key fields such as medicine, entertainment, tourism, education, and shopping. Through this activity, they learned how AR bridges the gap between the physical and digital worlds, offering immersive learning and problem-solving experiences.

As a practical application, the club created an AR-based human anatomy model. This allowed students to visually interact with 3D anatomical structures through their devices. The model made it easier to understand complex biological systems like the skeletal, muscular, and circulatory systems—enhancing learning beyond textbooks.

The project not only deepened the students’ understanding of AR technology but also showcased how it can transform education by making abstract concepts more tangible, engaging, and accessible.

Faced with the problems of unsuitable climate, extreme heat,anomalies—which threaten food security—the students explored hydroponics, a soil-less farming method, and integrated Bot-Sat1 to enhance precision farming.

Here's how this aligns with STEAM:

- Science: The team studied plant biology, optimal growth conditions, and climate impacts on agriculture. They explored how factors like light, temperature, and water quality affect plant development in a controlled hydroponic system.

- Technology: Using Bot-Sat1, the team was able to collect earth observation data, such as vegetation indices, temperature anomalies, and rainfall deficits—data crucial for understanding and predicting agricultural conditions.

- Engineering: Students designed and built functional hydroponic setups, integrating pumps, sensors, and control systems. They practiced problem-solving and system design, adapting to challenges in water delivery and environmental control.

- Arts: The video storytelling brought the project to life through visual design, animation, narration, and scripting—making complex scientific concepts accessible and engaging to a wider audience.

- Mathematics: Data analysis played a central role—students used satellite data and sensor readings to calculate optimal nutrient mixes, monitor water pH, and analyze climate trends. They applied math to fine-tune the hydroponic system for maximum efficiency.

Instead of letting those experiences break me, I chose to grow from them. I learned that my value does not come from other people’s opinions, but from my strengths, my dreams, and my character. Each challenge helped me build resilience, courage, and self-belief.

Speaking up, seeking support, and believing in myself were not easy steps, but they changed everything. Today, I stand more confident, knowing that overcoming bullying has made me stronger, more compassionate, and determined to uplift others who may be struggling.

My story is proof that bullying can leave scars, but it can also shape strength. You are not alone, you are not weak, and your voice matters. Confidence is built step by step — and healing is possible.

Drinking enough water helps us stay focused, energetic, and healthy. It also protects our teeth and does not contain sugar or calories.

STEAMing Acros Borders is ready to demonstrate that the water is the best and healthiest drink.

The core of this partnership lies in moving away from "black box" technology (where users don't know how the system works) toward Open Source hardware and software.

• Linux Professional Institute (LPI) Integration: By involving LPI, the club isn't just "playing" with computers; they are learning the professional standard for server management and operating systems. This provides the software backbone for controlling hardware.

• Micro-controllers & Raspberry Pi: These are the physical bridges. A Raspberry Pi acts as a low-cost, high-performance computer that allows students to build real-world applications—from weather stations to automated irrigation systems—using the Linux skills provided by LPI and the academic rigor of UB.

For Teachers: Professional Development & Resources

• Curriculum Support: Teachers often struggle to keep up with the rapid pace of tech. This partnership provides them with structured, industry-standard lesson plans.

For Local Computer Classes: Democratizing Education

• Free Learning Materials: High-quality tech education can be expensive. By providing free materials, the initiative removes the "paywall" to innovation, ensuring that a student’s financial status doesn't limit their ability to learn advanced computing.

• Support Forums: Having access to a dedicated forum means that when a student or local instructor gets stuck on a line of code or a hardware fault, they have a community of experts at UB and LPI to guide them. This prevents "learning plateaus."

• Localized Problem Solving: With these tools, students can build solutions tailored to Botswana's specific needs—such as smart-grid solutions for energy efficiency or IoT devices for local agriculture.

• Career Readiness: Students aren't just gaining a hobby; they are gaining certifications and skills that are globally recognized. This creates a workforce ready for the "Fourth Industrial Revolution," right from the local classroom.
