It was first constructed in 366AD and represents the great achievement of Buddhist art from the 4th to the 14th century. 492 caves are presently preserved, housing about 45,000 square meters of murals and more than 2,000 painted sculptures. 

According to legend, in 366 C.E. a monk named Yuezun had a vision of a thousand radiant Buddhas on the cliff face, which inspired him to begin excavating the caves. Then we measured out the proportions in Minecraft world and marked out where the main temple building should be. One main lesson we learnt was to ensure we are sharing our ideas with each other as a team. We also learnt to share work and ensure that both team members were contributing equally to our project.
