well this story caused a deep hurt to my heart. When I was 14 years old, I had a good friend called Jane. She was taller and stronger than me. At first I admired her sports talent and she had helped me learned a lot kinds of sports. After we met about half a year, there was a story among our classmates that I had a boyfriend and we kissed. Obviously I was shocked and confused how the uncanny rumor spread. I asked everyone I know, but nobody admit. I felt so upset because even my teacher and my parents knew this thing... About 2 weeks after the terrible story made up, Jane told me that she passed along the rumor. No one could know howI was depressed and surprised and how serious I had dropped in this awful experience. Although Jane have apologize to me and explained that she just wanted me to get more attention. What a ridiculous reason! Since then I didn't want to trust anyone that I am not familiar with and share my emotion to them. I can not understand why did she do the horrible thing to me....

Padlet post 3 (group 2)
The image is an advertisement form Kraft a food brand. The advertisement is focused on promoting the high calcium cheese that the company sells and is targeted at customers who are looking to buy cheese or are already customers of Kraft. The advertisement image is presenting a message that the cheese has so much calcium that the mouse had been trapped by the mouse-trap but it escaped because of its bones becoming stronger after eating the cheese, and its bones not having any effect by the impact of the wire of the mouse-trap, which seems to be bent and already used on the mouse before. It can also be noticed that the mouse trap only has bits and pieces of some cheese left behind, additionally the floors in the advertisement are clean which could also mean that the cheese was so delicious that the mouse could not leave behind any possible fallen pieces of cheese on the floor and ate as much of the cheese as it could which was kept on the mouse-trap, after which it escaped successfully from the location.

Q1: This story tells the story of what happens in a fully automated house named Happy Family House in the future world. The Hadly worried that their children would control a house called Nursery, so they locked their own children in their rooms. Unexpectedly, the two children intelligently escaped and successfully fought back.

Q2: The African continent is a symbol of adventure, which suggests that the two children will complete the story in such an environment. The wild grassland also indicates that what humans do here is in accordance with nature, which may be related to the death of the Hadly.
I think the relations between these stereotypes and "the danger of a single story" is that the"Africa" here is just a sign of danger.

Q3: "Happy Family House"
It seems that the parents want get along well with their children.

Q4: The parents play the role of two rulers and dictators in this story. They give their children material things to satisfy their desire to explore the unknown world. However, they ignore the fact that the child is a conscious and independent individual and that they do not really take the child's need for love to heart.
"we wouldn't have to do anything."
In my opinion, parents buying such a good house means that they will spend more time with their children instead of restricting their children's movements. But the couple bought the house just to make it easier for them to keep their children in check instead of doing housework.

Q5: "I feel like I don't belong here."
The father just thought that there were lions out there and that he might not be able to control them。 At the same time, he also suspected that his son had arbitrarily altered the door.

Q6: Parents' distrust makes children disappointed, when they are the last people in the world who should not doubt themselves. But Maclean suggested the decision , and it was accepted by the Hadley, speaks well of the fact that the parents did not love the children at all but treated them as expendable objects.
In my opinions, the house is like a bridge between parents and children for communication. Once one of the two refuses to communicate effectively, the balance of this bridge will be broken, and the parent-child relationship will be destroyed.

Q7: The biggest contradiction in our story is the parents' distrust of their children and the children's disappointment. What the author wants to tell us is that we should not easily believe others' provocations or we will lose a lot of good things. Parents should learn to respect their children and take care of their psychological health.

The first image presented is a sunrise over the savanna, symbolizing a new beginning. Then a large group of tropical animals were walking and eating slowly. The next image shows the siblings watching the lion eating its bloody prey.
As the camera progresses, the siblings encounter more and more bones, and at the same time they reach a cliff. There was a man on the cliff, and the younger brother pushed the man off the cliff. This scene symbolizes the same plot as in the original story where the younger brother locks his parents in a room with the lion.
The key to the video(the running lion) and the music (in the lyrics"outside, the lion is running Feeding on remains")is the lion, and the encounter between the siblings and him doomed them to witness the birth of wild and animal nature, and have the courage to take risks and kill their parents.

1- I can identify a few stereotypes. For example, I found that it used scenes to highlight the traditional clothing of Indians who lived in the America and Indians lives in Asia, as well as the severe standard looks of East Asians in Europe and America. I think thee things are all belonged to stereotypes.

2- Stereotyped are Indians who used to live in the American continent and Indians who now live in Asia. Their dress and dance, as well as their living habits are classified as stereotypes. The Asians in the video were photographed because of the stereotypes associated with their looks. They're all squinting. I don’t think it’s polite.

3- The singer MJ is a household name, and the videos he makes can have a big impact on people’s behaviors and thoughts once they become public. For example, the depiction of Indians and Asians in the video (which I prefer to think of as Chinese because most of the racist art depicts Chinese people in this way with narrow eyes) is a good definition of stereotype. The creation of this image not only solidifies the image of Indians and Asians in other cultures, but may also lead others to believe that Indian culture symbolizes barbarism and uncivilized (because they are always dancing strange traditional dances in the videos) and that Asians have narrow eyes.

4- The first and most important step is to get to know the culture yourself. Only when we have a deep enough understanding of the culture can some stereotypes be discarded. The second step is to meet some people from a strange culture and learn about some traditional customs and clothes or specialties from them. Third, to have a sense of opposition to stereotypes and to try to study a cultural history without thinking about stereotypes about it.

Padlet 14 Cure for Loneliness

The man in the video is one of the millions of ordinary people who do the same thing every day, from pressing the microwave to sleeping on the couch. The man's life is boring, the track of traveling is always from home to work, two points and one line. He finds it boring, but he doesn't have enough money to change all that, so he can only silently hide his good ambitions and be a numb, ordinary man. This is also the story of most people, living a routine life. By chance, he ordered a companion robot. The smart robot and the wristband and hovering display before it all echoed the video title (Future Life). From then on, the robot becomes the bright color in his ordinary life. With the robot's companionship, the hero rediscovers his love of life and finds love, while the rising proportion of the back of the robot's neck suggests that it continues to be assimilated by humans through mimicry and data analysis. Eventually, the AI develops emotions of "loneliness" and "sadness" and jumps off the tracks to be crushed to pieces by a train. At the end of the video, the backs of the necks of the main character and his girlfriend are shown as "100% human," indicating that they are also AIs, creating a perfect closed loop. In the process of becoming human, AI needs to keep calculating data and mimicking human behavior, which may cost lives, but after a long time of assimilation, there are still AIs that succeed. Seeing this, I think of the social constructivism that was taught in class. The process of artificial intelligence gradually turning into human beings is in line with the idea put forward by social constructivism, which is to continuously intervene in the behavior of the subject through various means, so as to achieve the purpose of changing the ideology.

In fact, the fact that both the male and female protagonists are AIs is mentioned in the first half of the video, and if they do the same thing every day regardless of their status, how is this not a robot trying to integrate into human society? This includes the male protagonist's observations of the female protagonist, which may also be in some sort of emotion calculated by the system. This goes back to the semiotics we talked about in class, or suggestion. From a scene building perspective, when the hero and the AI are spending time together, the lighting in the video has a cyberpunk style, suggesting that the hero and the AI are the same species.

1) People engage in participatory culture such as fan fiction or fan activism to connect with like-minded people, express creativity, and influence their favorite content. It fosters a sense of community and allows fans to contribute to a narrative they are passionate about. I'm not personally involved in it, but many find its collaborative and creative nature appealing.

2) By challenging dominant narratives and power structures, participatory culture can be counter-hegemonic. For example, fan fiction often subverts traditional storylines and characters, offering alternative perspectives that challenge dominant norms. Fan activism (seen in movements such as #ReleaseTheSnyderCut) can drive industry decisions and give fans a voice in shaping media content. This counter-hegemonic nature allows marginalized voices to be heard and influences cultural narratives outside of traditional authority.

3) Technological convergence, participatory culture and fan activism empower individuals to create and share different narratives, challenging and expanding beyond a single story. Through technology platforms and technological convergence, people can easily produce and distribute content, ensuring access to a wider range of perspectives. Participatory cultures, such as fan fiction or online communities, allow for the co-creation of narratives that break down single, stereotypical stories. Fan activism (seen in movements like #OwnVoices) amplifies marginalized voices and contributes to a richer, multifaceted understanding of culture and identity. Together, these factors allow for a more inclusive and authentic portrayal of diverse stories, reclaiming narratives from singular, often limiting perspectives.
