She always seeked a life of excitement so she traveled New York to become an actress. But During the time that the Civil War was happening she was offered to become a spy for the Union Army.  She accepted the job. Years she was caught and was sentenced to death. She was later fired for looking like a southern sympathizer. But in 1863 she saw a chance to be a spy for the Confederate Army.  She soon started touring with the Army in Kentucky and Tennessee.
