4. Being able to teach a topic to a physics class during my classroom volunteer experience was a memorable life event for me! It was my first dip into classroom teaching and I learned a lot from the experience.

4. In high school, I took a peer tutoring class and really enjoyed the dynamics of the classroom in a different position. After that experience, I decided to continue to find different environments like that which has led me here!

4. A recent memorable event is when I was doing a lesson on hippos with my preschool class and I was telling them how hippos are vulnerable. The first child said, "This is so sad I want to protect the hippos." Another child said, " We also need to protect the lions." A third child said, "My people need to protect the eagles." The list of animals and places that the children were passionate about protecting went on and on amongst themselves.

4. A few years back during a summer, while managing a tryout for a physical performance display in which the final two selections were for a male and female, we had a cadet that identified as male. Although they were not successful to be selected for the finalist positions, they were in the top 8. Told my staff to reach out to them just to let them know that throughout the tryout they were consistently considered as male for their identity. They cried happily upon hearing how they were assessed. <3

4. In 2019, I went back to my high school to volunteer in an English 11 classroom and it was the best experience ever. It further confirmed that teaching is the job for me and it felt so right standing in front of an English 11 class.

Another amazing life experience is actively being involved in protesting against the three new farm laws that have been passed in India that suppress farmers and their livelihoods. It's been amazing be a part of the many protests that happen in the Lower Mainland as well as organizing and leading my own every week in Richmond! #FarmersProtest #NoFarmersNoFood

During lockdown we had to completely change the way the classroom worked and I was given the responsibility of virtually teaching reading, writing, and math to fourteen grade two students from April-June. It was really a "crash course" in everything where I learned a lot about not only being a teacher, but the importance of being flexible and understanding with students, parents, and co-workers.

2. I am a seconded Surrey elementary teacher. I have taught mostly upper intermediate. Growing up, I was involved in peer tutoring and a variety of volunteer opportunities working with children.
3. I LOVE teaching grade 7. I am passionate about inquiry-based and hands-on learning. I am also passionate about SEL, or Social Emotional Learning.
4. Backpacking in Thailand was a wonderful experience that I hope to share with my own kids one day. I also love travelling with my family. We do a lot of camping together.
