My name is Gerardo Alfaro, and I am stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. While in Advanced Individual Training to become a Signal Intelligence Analyst for the Army at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas, a Cochise College rep came to our class and informed us that our training there would allow us to, at the same time, work towards a degree in Intelligence Operations Studies(AAS). After six years in the Army and still no degree, I immediately signed up for Cochise College that same day. My training at Goodfellow AFB and previous military training earned me enough credits, and all I need now is my general education requirements to earn my associate's degree. I plan to further my education in the Intelligen

ce field to open more doors and one day get my foot into a three-letter agency within the United States Intelligence Community.

Some hobbies of mine include fishing, weight lifting, and video games. Most of my coworkers indoor rock climb or hike the nearby mountains, so that may become a new hobby of mine.

Looking forward, I see my success completely dependent on how committed I am, as well as how much time I am willing to sacrifice. I am in a unit where our command team pushes us to seek higher education to advance our careers. They expect us to work on schoolwork to maximize our time if there is any downtime.

Not being enrolled in college these past six years in the Army, I will have to begin sacrificing my free time and weekends. I have grown accustomed to always having free weekends and enjoying them with no responsibilities. Now, I will have to begin saying no when I am invited to go out, especially when classwork needs to be done.

Hello everyone, my name is Stephanie Powell. I live in Sierra Vista and have been here for about nine years. I was born in a small town in Pennsylvania called Mckeesport but raised in Jacksonville, North Carolina. I sure do miss the greenery there. I am thirty-one years old and married with three beautiful children. I have an eight-year-old, five-year-old, and soon-to-be three-year-old. They sure love to keep me on my toes, but they are what keeps me going. My family means everything to me! I love spending time with my family, crafting, reading, swimming, and watching movies. I am a stay-at-home mom and have been for the last eight years. I am pursuing a career in nursing. I couldn't be more excited about this new journey. It has been twelve years since I have been to college. I am glad I finally decided to set myself up to make a better future for myself and my family. Success for myself would be comprehending everything I learn and using it in my everyday life. My time here will be a success by passing all my courses and using all the tools I have learned. The sacrifices I will have to make are time with my family so I can focus and study. I look forward to all of the new things I will be leaning in this class!

Hello, my name is Erika Saavedra and this is my first time attending college classes. I am very excited to be here and plan to make the best out of this experience. I currently live in Douglas, Az. What has brought me to Cochise College is that I recently received my Peer Support certification, which is something I am really proud, and I would like to add more to my resume. So, I decided to continue my education and obtain an Associate's degree in Sociology and Psychology to add to it. My favorite hobbies are listening to music, I enjoy hearing any kind of music, but my favorite is Reggaetón. I also enjoy playing sports. My favorite sports are basketball and softball. I am currently enrolled in a women's fall softball league and was designated to be my team's coach. last, I enjoy spending time with family by having cookouts and just hanging out with them. I am also currently in the road to recovery so just having some me time, meditating and relaxing is an essential hobby for me, so I don't hit a burn out. Success for me would be to stay on top of all assignments by learning to navigate through Moodle and any other systems that are available to me by the college or even books. Communication with my instructors is also an important key by checking and responding to emails or even just asking for help when needed. Attending scheduled meetings with instructors and just putting my best effort into all my academics. Sacrifices that I will have to make to accomplish assignments, and all my exams will be to give up spending time on social media and spending that time on homework and studying. even though spending time with my family is a very positive support i may even have to spend less time with them in order to complete my courses. There may be many more sacrifices I may have to make and that's fine, but I am really looking forward to this college thing!

I wanted to stay close to home and to family so that’s why I decided to attend Cochise college. At Cochise college I’m trying to pursue my nursing career and become a registered nurse. Some of my favorite hobbies are spending a lot of quality time with my family, friends and babysitting and going to Mexico and ride horses. I will know my time at Cochise was successful the day I walk the stage with my diploma that I have become a registered nurse and say that I was able to make my dream career possible. I will be sacrificing a bit of things in order to be successful some things are having to spend less time with my family and friends to be able to get all the work I need done and I would also be giving up my trips going up to Mexico and I would be giving up my free time so I can make sure I’m on top of my work.

Hello, my name is Dustyn Dodd. I currently reside in Huachuca City, Arizona. My motivation and determination to have a better life brought me to Cochise College. My educational goal is to get better at anything math related, but I'd really like to get better at all subjects if possible so that I can become more academically well rounded. Becoming a registered nurse is my career goal. I'm a type one diabetic with a rare perspective on my disease and I feel like it's my destiny to help people and children overcome the difficulties that are associated with diabetes. My hobbies include weightlifting, listening to music, reading, playing with my dog and watching tv shows and movies. Looking forward, success for me at Cochise College could be defined by the connections I made with my teachers and fellow class mates along with the life changing knowledge that I will have accumulated for my career. I'm going to learn a lot of new curriculum that will help me sustain my career and launch me forward to places that i never even knew existed. My degree on the wall will be a remnant of my success, not only for me but for my future children. It's a requirement in my opinion to sacrifice your free time so that you don't lose your eyes on the prize and get distracted. Staying dialed in and laser focused will be key elements for my success at Cochise College.

My name is Michael Phillips, I just moved here barely a month ago from Cheyenne Wyoming. I have spent the last several years debating on attending college again. 21 years ago I went to Culinary School thinking that was the type of life i wanted to lead. But now all know is I just love to cook at home. Not really in some restaurant. My career and educational goals are to graduate from college once more but this time is to make sure its for the right reason and to finally have the career in Medical Coding and Billing, Hoping is what I was supposed to do for the rest of my life. My hobbies are I love to cook obviously and spend time outside whether its with my mom and her horses, or finally able to go to the mountains again like I did when I was a kid. Success for me is Aiming for a dream and do whatever it takes to accomplish it. Don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't do something. Only you can make that distinction. Life is all about choices. But it's up to us to make the right ones that is what's best for us. The sacrifices I will have to make is just for schoolwork and to make sure schook comes first and foremost.

I am a mommy of an adorable 6 months old baby his name is Victor but I call him Victorcito! I'm married with my first love! I met him in 2016 and finally in 2023 he asked me to marry him. One of my favorite things to do is be coffee barista at home!, create new combinations and textures with flavors and coffee it's fascinating. I really love fall season! specially for the pumpkin flavor. I am pursuing a career in Early Childhood Education. I find it fascinating to be able to teach toddlers new things for their development and shape their behavior. Although I think that those little ones teach us more than we teach them. Well, success for me in Cochise college started since the first day I decided to attend classes in a language that was unknown for me but that helped me a lot to grow personally. Now I just ask God to give me a wisdom to successfully pass all courses.

I graduated from Douglas High School and have always wanted to become a Cochise student. Besides wanting to go to Cochise myself another thing that brought me to Cochise College is that I will eventually be living in Sierra Vista in hopes of having my career here as well. I am pursuing to become a registered nurse and earning my (BSN) or perhaps become a veterinarian. From childhood to high school, I was in gymnastics and cheerleading but now I spend my time going to the gym, hiking, painting and participating in outdoor activities. I also love music and pets I like to take on walks. My daycare job that I also love takes up my time apart from school as well as spending time with my loved ones. Every year my family and I travel to Mazatlan Sinaloa to visit family and swim in the beach. I will know my time at Cochise College was successful when I learn and have the knowledge of the things I've want to know. Receiving my diploma and becoming more academically confident will also let me know my time at Cochise was a success. Some people have sacrifices when they want to achieve a specific goal and I'm sure we can all relate. My sacrifices in order to become a successful student include not having more time to spend on my hobbies, family and friends since I also work. On the other hand, school is important to me as I'm sure it is to you. Thank you!

Success for me at Cochise College is making sure I have a understanding of the classes I am taking, passing those classes and completing the program. I do know that I will have to get better with me time management skills and also not overthinking the questions asked. I have to make some sacrifices to be successful this semester. Cutting back on weekend activities and not working on work assignments after work. I was previously enrolled in Glendale Community College pursuing Sustainability but after I moved down here, I wanted to continue my education and enrolled here. I'm now studying Physics here at Cochise. I really don't have a lot of career oriented goals but my main goal is just to obtain a degree and why not do it in something that is enjoyable to me. My hobbies are gaming (Valorant, Stardew, OW2, Minecraft, fort), gardening, bracelet making, and re-watching the same 7 shows. Success for me at Cochise will be being able to look back and being able to prove to certain people in my life that I was able to put myself through school and achieve a degree I want. Success at Cochise will be being able to achieve higher education after an associates and going to ASU to pursue a higher Physics degree. I know sacrifices will be sleepless nights on some days for studying, less hang out time with my doggy, and game time for study time.

Hello everyone! My name is Aylin Vazques and I’m 18 years old. I was born in Tucson, AZ but raised in Douglas, AZ and Agua Prieta, Son. I am proud to be part of the Cochise College community. I decided to attend Cochise College to pursue a healthcare career and become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). I am passionate about helping and taking care of others, and I believe that being in the CNA program here will provide me with a future in healthcare and also be close to my family. I enjoy spending time with my family, especially spending time playing with my little sister and my dog, also listening to music. Those moments keep my energy up. I’m the first generation in my family, they motivated me to enter college and to have a career and for this reason, I’m here. I know I will make sacrifices to achieve my goals at Cochise and to make my family proud. This includes working hard, being responsible, and doing important things in college. I hope to graduate from college and get along with each of you.

My name is Jose Pimentel, I am 21 years old. I am originally from Venezuela but I live in Germany. I have been living in Germany for 3 years now, I came to Cochise College to play baseball and improve my academic level. I want to study digital marketing. My favorite hobbies are playing pool, some basketball and ping pong. I left my country when I was 18 years old, I have lived alone since then, I have not seen my parents for almost 4 years. I left for an opportunity to play baseball in Europe in Italy, then I lived in Spain and then I I came to Germany, it has been very difficult since then, but little by little I have been on the right path. So much so that I got a scholarship to come here, finally I got here on a recommendation from my coach in Germany, I received the news while working in a restaurant, as I said it has been difficult. I have gone through many ups and downs but I have never thrown in the towel and I think that is what has brought me here, perseverance, hope and consistency. I have thought many times to give up but I haven't done it, it's hard but these are things I had to go through to grow as a person.

That is my story, thank you.

Hello, my name is Daniel Martins, I am from Venezuela but I currently live in Germany. I left Venezuela due to the situation in the country in 2021, I have lived in Spain and I have played baseball in Spain and in Germany. I have also represented my country in European tournaments in Switzerland and a large part of Germany. What brought me to Cochise is that I want to have a better education and graduate to get a job doing what I like and that allows me to continue playing baseball and also to play baseball at home. a high level here at Cochise, my goal here is to graduate and be a better athlete. My favorite hobbies are listening to music and playing basketball. I would define success, being a good person, a good roommate, and a good student, helping my colleagues in whatever they need. I believe that the biggest sacrifice I would have to make is not spending so much time with my family since I am very attached to them, I want my time here in Cochise to be a personal challenge to be a better person , a better athlete and apply everything I learn here in every area of my life.
