Job candidates at Zappos are asked interview questions related to each company value and need to get "10 out of 10" to get hired
2. It is harder to get a job a Zappos than it is to get accepted into Stanford
3. Hiring is followed by a 5 week training program of answering customer phone calls
4. One employee can call out another employee for not being in line with their core values for accountability
5. One way in which Hsieh himself lives the culture is to help with customer calls for 10 hours during the holiday season
http://knowledge.wharton.upenn.edu/article/zappos-tony-hsieh-holacracy-right-fit/

Paige Grandstaff
Travis Leverett
Mariah Aubin
Olga Maskova
Samsun Keokanock

Why Trust Motivates Employees More Than Pay

1. Being appreciated and valued at a workplace makes for a better work environment for everyone.
2. Companies that self-govern and allow employees to be leaders, regardless of their position, show much better business performance.
3. The survey conducted found that almost every employee identified in one of three groups of organizations: self-governing, blind obedience, and informed acquiesence.
4. Blind obedience refers to a command/control type of environment whereas the informed acquiesence is what one would find in a model large public company like Walmart, which practices "good management".
5. 99% of people surveyed would rather work in self-governing workplaces, compared to the 31% that work in the blind obedience category of organizations.
6. When looking at character and trust, the study found that companies with both of these qualities perform 4 times better than the companies that value collaboration and celebration of others.
7. Innovation requires risk, and trust in groups that one is working with encourages that risk taking.
8. Inspiration is an internal aspect of oneself that are connected with deeply rooted beliefs- people in trusting companies actually believe in the work they are doing and perform better.
9. This data doesn't count as proof that a trusting business is a better one, but it is compelling.
10. Money might be better spent on culture and making employees trust their businesses.
http://fortune.com/tag/the-how-report/
