This framework looks at technology integration as a process with four levels that work like a ladder. The model places the teacher's technology integration in one of four levels. The first level is the simplest form of using technology, and the highest level is the most sophisticated way to use technology. The idea is to have your lessons fall in any one of the four levels of the model. The SAMR framework makes it clear that not all lessons lend themselves to be on the redefinition level, and that's okay. The disadvantage with this model is that it does not address how the learning goals play a role in the technology choice.
