Both the Rosenblatt and Enriquez & Wager article talk about how students get more out of the text if you bring performance and feeling into it. My first post was an article about why you should read out loud to your children. This one was a little less specific as it wasn't talking about students, but I felt it could still apply. The next post was a video on a slam poetry group at a high school and how engaging the performance of their poetry is. The next post is an article from a teacher how uses a unique way to get their students engaged and physically interacting with the poetry they read. The next two posts are memes from a student perspective. One is a student joking about how they feel like teachers will make up a ridiculous meaning of a text when they feel like it's not really the authors intent. The last post is a meme from a student showing how they feel like slam poetry can be a little silly.

The first thing I posted was the definition for Locke's theory of "tabula rasa". This theory suggests that people are born into the world without any prior knowledge or experience - it was proved false by other psychologists. In the same way do readers approach texts - they do not come without prior knowledge. Readers are not a blank slate. The second item I put in this padlet is a meme about the way students approach readings - although texts may have some symbolism, true meaning arises when readers interact with the text. The third piece I added was a quote about reading being exercise. What I mean by this is that reading is not a passive act, but rather an active way of interacting with words and previous notions. The fourth thing I added was a youtube video that explains Reader Response Theory in less than five minutes - it is a good introduction. Lastly, I included an article that states that creative people view the world differently. I connected this to this week's lesson in that people can have different experiences with the world (or with texts) simply because of different thought processes in their head. However I including the  drawing of the  lens, the reader, and the baggage because it is symbolic. The baggage of course is everything you take out of your reading but your lens is what determines whether or not you are going to unpack it.
I included a view articles that gave different perspectives on reader response theory. I included a video/ picturebook explaining Aesthetic and Efferent reading only because I know how Dr. B feels about her picture books.
