Similarly to Eleanor Rigby I believe it is in the Dorian mode at points, with the sharpened 6th. Relatively slow harmonic rhythm, however more modulatory at 2:05, similar to Here, There and Everywhere
- A.P

Paint it Black by the Rolling Stones
Like in 'Tomorrow Never Knows', this piece has an Indian links through it's use of sitar. The sitar is used to double the melody line for a large portion of the piece, improvising slightly around the melody Brian Jones plays the sitar in this piece, having taught himself after visiting George Harrison.

The harmonies are similar in style to that of Here, There and Everywhere. It also uses a high tessitura.

As found online: "Whereas the Beatles and Stones never really considered eachother rivals, between 1965 and 1967, there was a friendly rivalry between Brian Wilson and Lennon/McCartney. Rubber Soul influenced Brian Wilson to write Pet Sounds, which in turn influenced songs on Revolver and Sgt. Pepper. Some of both bands best music came out in this time period."
