The so-called “tripping stones” are small brass plates located on the pavement of streets. They usually mention the name, date of birth and death of the victims. There are nearly 1000 in all of Stuttgart, often placed in front of the last freely chosen home of the victims. The reason for this project was to give these people back their names after they were simply reduced to numbers in the time of National Socialism. The German artist Gunther Dumnig first started the project in 1992, which has now expanded to 27 European counties. It’s a really nice project to ensure sustainability of history and remembrance.

Even after its closing, everyone is drawn to the terrace to enjoy Stuttgart from above.

On the Züblin Parkhaus which is still used for parking you have an amazing view over the city and the plants give an incredible vibe. There are places to sit between the plants and you can watch the sunset over Stuttgart. There is a big variety of plants to look at smell and maybe even to snack. It isn’t only a place for the gardeners to find a community and to network but also for everyone else. Luckily the spot doesn’t attract too many people yet but if you want to you are guaranteed to meet some nice people right there between the plants. Although this urban garden is located close to the city centre there are many more in Stuttgart. These urban gardens are places of love and community. Many of them are open all day and happily welcome visitors. If you visit Stuttgart at least one urban garden should be on the agenda.

It is not located in the city centre but still easily accessible by train. The TV-tower is 217m high and can be seen from nearly anywhere in the city. It is the most famous sight in Stuttgart due to the fact that the tower was actually the first one of its kind and is a model for the future TV-towers that have been built. When the tower was being built many critics thought such a modern building would be impossible to execute in real life but they were proven wrong. The architecture is mind blowing especially since the tower has been standing since 1955. If you are interested in learning more about how, and why the tower is continuing to stand the test of time you can take a guide. It will explain the impressive architecture that has been taken as a reference for other TV-towers and answer any questions. Initially the tower was built in order to ensure reception to Stuttgart so that more people with their own TV’s could broadcast events like queen Elizabeth’s inauguration or important soccer games. The architects decided an ugly tower wasn’t an option and decided to combine the functional part with restaurants for visitors. In the botanical garden you could soon also look at fish then more exotic animals like zebras and giraffes. Over time the Wilhelma has evolved into a place showcasing hundreds of species for everyone. It is also the only breeding station for great apes in Europe. The zoo is interesting for kids as well as teens and adults and there is so much to see and do. To get there, you have to get out at the UBahn stop "Weinsteige" and turn right at the "Römerstraße", walking quite a way downwards. The park itself is the steepest in Stuttgart, and it features mammoth trees planted by King Wilhelm I. of Württemberg in the upper part of the Park. Since it is a bit more secluded and, I cannot stress this enough, incredibly steep, it is usually very empty. You can find picnic tables and benches within the park if you wish to eat there, and you have a wonderful little patch of greenery to enjoy. To get back home, you do not have to head back upwards. If you continue the way you came, you will eventually reach a bustop, where the bus can take you to the "Olgaeck". What is so interesting about stairs? There are many different stairs all across Stuttgart city e.g. individual stairs, staircases and even stairway tours, the so-called "Stäffele tours". Young people meet there to chill and hang out. It is a place where Europe´s youth can connect and interact. There are 400-500 stairs which connect the different locations of Stuttgart! They even date back to the time when Stuttgart’s valley slopes were used as vineyards or gardens. Since the 19th century they have served as a connection and short cut from the bottom of the hills to the top. They also contain many memories, because in the Second World War, Stuttgart’s city centre was heavily damaged whereas the stairs weren’t. The geography of the stairs is very important. They make it easier getting from one place, the basin, to the other, the hills, due to Stuttgart´s Kessellage. 
The Stäffele also show the Swabian attitude since the people are famous for their work ethic and their strive to improve.
So walking up and down the stairs is the best way of visiting and exploring the city and getting a new perspective. providers. Six major providers are currently active, called: circ, lime, tier, voi, jump and bird. 
The using works with an app, where you create an account and then have
the option of paying for the rights to use the scooter. 
Furthermore, certain zones have been defined in which the scooter can be used and parked.
The special feature of this offer is of course the independence of time and route of the public transports. In addition, the journey is not exhausting, regardless of the route and of course it’s a lot of fun.

More than 2,000 people are expected to live in almost 850 apartments. The people themselves are at the centre of the planning process, which focuses on their social needs. A lot of measures are taken to reduce the pollution caused by cars. Bikes and e-cars should be used more. One important criteria of this project is the production of sustainable energy by installing solar panels on roofs. Many parks, green spots and urban gardening should bring people close to nature.
The project serves as a good example of how urban planning can be more sustainable!

In 1815 the volcano Tambora erupted in Indonesia. The year after that is considered the year „without summer“ because a big cloud caused by the volcano hid the sun and caused unsual weather like snow in summer and floodings. This led the citizens of Württemberg to believe it was the end of the world or a punishment sent by God. 
These weather conditions ruined the crop which caused the country to experience a famine. Two years later in 1818 they celebrated overcoming the hunger by organizing the first Cannstatter Wasen.

It has a distance of 2.2 km and masters a slope of 17.8%. The gear drive ensures that the train can go up steep hills, where a normal wheel would slip. Since 1902, it has been solely run with electricity. It is the most frequently used line of Stuttgart’s public transport system with 10000 passengers daily. You can transport bicycles on an external wagon. But make sure you lock it before leaving, otherwise it will be stolen. The Train drives you below the place and all of the shops are just a short walk away. 
It’s called the Schlossplatz because it’s placed right next to the Neues Schloss and close the Altes Schloss.
Originally it was just a military place but in the 1860s Friedrich Wilhelm Hackländer redesigned it to be more of a flower garden. 
In the center of the Schlossplatz there’s a statue of the Goddess Concordia for the 25 anniversary of King Wilhelm I.

It is best known for the fountain whose nymph was donated by Queen Olga. When the nymph was erected in 1890, the city's inhabitants were protesting because in their eyes the nymph wasn’t covered enough. They only stopped once Queen Olga threatened to turn the statue around so that the naked behind would point towards the city.

There is also an almost three metre high limestone pillar in honour of the comedian Vicco von Bülow, best known as Loriot.
