Researching the company to come up with points that relate to their vision would go a long way to overcoming my concerns with this. I could then streamline my personal points to information that relates to that company.

Harold

I find when asked a question like this I used to flinch, as if the employer is doubting me and that I need to panic and defend myself. It is quite a confrontational question that makes you kind of second guess yourself. As I've grown though and had more interviews I find this question less daunting now. I have a list of references I collected myself and wouldn't have put someone in my references that would talk bad about my work ethic or past experience. I find sometimes we lose confidence in ourselves in situations like interviews where were speaking from nerves and less from who we really are. I'm glad I've learned this lesson early on and can build and grow from it.
~Holly

How does Dean handle pressure/stress

When I used to work, there was days it was required to be super fast, and if you weren't you would look bad, and get a bad rep, where people can't rely on you fully. So on those day where the pressure would be high, I would let reaction do the work for me, no thinking, just reacting, and it worked like a charm, even when times would go completely south. The nice things about pressure/stress is, if you fail you're going to be beat yourself up, and in my experience, my worst critic is myself, and that grown men don't like to give other grown men sh*t, so in my mind, I would be that person, who gives sh*t, and it worked amazing, because I would like to go home with a clean conscience . I've selected this preparation tip, because I have been known to work amazing under high stress, but not the best under low stress.

The tip that resonated most with me is the preparation of questions you will be asked. This is something that drives me up the wall before an interview is, worrying what I will be asked. The list of possible questions and how to best answer them. Especially when I am asked about a past employer and what they would say. This is the reason a list of references is needed. That way the wrong person is not contacted. Before the next interview I go on I will definitely be going over questions and practicing answers. I have always considered myself a very easy person to have a conversation with but those interview questions....Better prepared now!!! :-)
Lori Seth

Doing this lets me know if their are any gaps in my preparedness or questions that I was unready for or hadn't even considered. I often use the internet to look up some questions just to ensure I am ready.

Stephen Morley
