Often times when you think of a suburban area, you think of neighborhoods. Neighborhoods are areas where homes are grouped together in a residential district. Usually in neighborhoods there is a sense of community between the residents.  

Suburban areas usually have a lot of businesses, stores, and restaurants but not as many as urban areas have. Usually the stores are grouped together in what is called a "shopping center." The houses in suburban areas can be spread out, or close together depending on the town.

Usually the suburban area or "suburbs" are largely dependent on the city nearby for employment, major entertainment (shows, concerts etc.), and other luxuries only found in urban areas.
