Anne Frank was a Jewish girl born on June 12, 1929, in Frankfurt, Germany, Anne and her family fled to Amsterdam to escape the persecution of Jews by the Nazis. During World War II, they went into hiding in a concealed annex behind her father's business.

Firstly we think that there is a reasonable difference between being held captive and hiding, but both of us agreed that the thing that we would find the hardest if we were imprisoned would be the isolation from society and our loved ones and the fear of something bad happening to either them or us. Nevertheless, if we were hiding, maybe we would happen to be with someone we know and we wouldn't feel that lonely, but there could be other difficulties like the daily coexistence.

We both used to keep diaries when we were little mostly as a way to express how we felt about our friends, daily situations and our current crushes. Ee think that diaries can be useful to express your feelings or have a more introspective look over a certain matter, but besides this we think whether you find it useful or not depends on the way you use it and the commitment you have to write.

Based on what we read we think that Ann is an exceptional young girl with a bright mind and who is very self-confident and independent. However it seems as if she was misunderstood by the people that surrounded her, so she felt lonely most of the time; upon this we assume that her intelligence, taking into account that she is only fourteen and has spent two years in the hiding spot (since 1942), also comes from having to grow up fast because of the context she was being raised in.

We don´t think she is right, but we understand her: the mix between adolescence and “captivity” caused her, or anyone in that situation, to feel tormented by her surroundings and that she lacked privacy and that is the reason for her behavior towards her parents. Nevertheless, she was really young so, even though she did not wanted it at that time, she still needed her parents' support. We agree that our nuclear family is nothing alike, but we can both say that we would definitely miss the little things that we take now for granted, for example, picking us up or driving us to places, having a meal ready when we come home, etc. Also it would be really lonely at first.

The difference made by this situation was clearly related to his fears of his daughter growing up, he was not only upset because of Anne´s behavior, he was hurt that Anne said that she did not need them anymore.
