Once, we (the companions) were sitting near the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Suddenly, a man appeared to us wearing very white clothes and very black hair. There was no sign of travel on him, and none of us knew him. He immediately sat down in front of the Prophet, then his knees rested on the Prophet's knees and placed his hands on his thighs, then he said: "O Muhammad! Tell me about Islam."

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied, "Islam is that you testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; that you establish prayer; that you pay zakat; that you fast in Ramadan; and that you perform Hajj to the House, if you are able to do so." The man said, "You are right," so we were surprised, he who asked also confirmed it.

Then he asked again: "Tell me about Faith."

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied, "Faith is that you believe in Allah; His angels; His books; His Messengers; The Last Day, and believe in the decree of Allah, both good and bad,” he said, “You are right.”

He asked again: “Tell me about ihsan.”

The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam replied, “You should worship Allah as if you see Him. Even if you do not see Him, He sees you.”

The man said again: “Tell me when the Hour will occur?”

The Prophet said, “The one who is asked does not know better than the one who asks.”

He asked again: “Tell me about its signs!”

The Prophet said, “When a slave girl gives birth to her master; when you see a barefoot, unclothed person (poor) and a shepherd competing with each other in building a towering, magnificent building.”

Then the man left immediately. I was silent, until the Prophet asked me: “O Umar! Do you know who asked you earlier?”

I said, “Allah and His Messenger know better,” He said, “He is Gabriel who teaches you about your religion.” [HR Muslim, no. 8]

18. O you who believe! Fear Allah, and let every soul consider what it has sent forth for the morrow (the Hereafter), and fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is All-Seer of what you do.

19. And be not like those who forget Allah, so He makes them forget themselves. Those are the transgressors.

20. The inhabitants of hell are not the same as the inhabitants of heaven; the inhabitants of heaven are the ones who gain victory.

21.

The Adab (etiquettes or lessons) from Surah Maryam, verses 41-50, mainly revolve around respect, obedience, and steadfastness in faith. Here are some key points:

1. Honoring the Prophets – Prophet Ibrahim (AS) is praised for his truthfulness and strong faith (verse 41).

2. Respecting Parents – Even when correcting his father’s idol worship, Ibrahim (AS) spoke gently and respectfully (verses 42-45).

3. Calling to the Truth Wisely – He used wisdom and reasoning to invite his father to monotheism (verse 46).

4. Patience in the Face of Rejection – Despite his father’s harsh response, Ibrahim (AS) remained patient and chose to part peacefully (verse 47).

5. Trust in Allah – Ibrahim (AS) left his people for the sake of Allah, trusting in His guidance and mercy (verses 48-50).

These verses teach us to uphold good character, be respectful in disagreements, and rely on Allah’s plan.
