I think you should definitely try and stick to a certain colour scheme/theme to make it seem more engaging.

I like how they use two different age grouped people, I can see how they find it hard to understand each other so there is conflict between the two age groups. 
I like how it gives another extra bit after the title.

dislike- it gives too much information and evidence from the film, so we can expect what will happen. i also dislike the negative ending. 

in your trailer, you could show physical action from the characters. i really like the two faced grandparents- and how the little girl responds by pushing her down the hill. 
my favourite film trailer is the Kingsman and it is from the crime-thriller genre and as expected it has really high sophisticated technology and action based narrative- i like how the main character who was a former criminal relates to many of the audience in some ways- and how he transforms from his casual look to smart figure.

I dislike the how the main character is introduced (Emily Osment) and the name appearing at the end. In your trailer you can use an under-tunnel location for your trailer and show characters are getting accused for no reason and how they overcome difficulties.
