Throughout this unit I have learned a lot about awareness, consequences, and choice. The biggest thing I have learned is that many factors can impact a person but in the end they are the only ones who have the power to make their decision. This idea is shown in the story Hop Frog. Hop Frog the jester was always being laughed at for his physical appearance and disability. He was frustrated by the way he and his friend were treated and therefore decided to get revenge on the king and his court. Many things led to Hop Frog’s decision but in the end he is the one who made the decision to dress the king and his men as beasts and burn them. Similar to Hop Frog another story that displays this idea is Black Cat. In Black Cat the narrator starts of the story as a happy animal loving man but transforms into an unstable alchoholic. He blames most of his actions on the cat but in the end he was the one who made the decision to hurt the cat and kill his wife. I chose a picture of a man standing infront of many different paths because it represents the different choices that a person can make.

Throughout this unit I have learned a lot about how the consequences of our actions can truly affect us and the people around us. For example, the consequences of Abigail William's decision to go after John Proctor even if it meant being the cause of so many innocent people's deaths not only affected her by forcing her to flee but affected others by ending lives and ruining families. Also, in Black Cat, the consequences of the main character's choice to be an alcoholic and drink his life away led to the ruining of his personality and life but also had consequences for the cat and wife because they both ended up being killed at the hands of the main character. Although the wife and the cat weren't involved in his decision, they both received consequences for it that ultimately ended their lives. That is the same in The Crucible, considering the people of Salem who were accused of being witches and hung played no part in Abigail's decision to start the witch trials but still received consequences for her action. Our choices not only result in our own consequences but they also lead to consequences for those that our choice/action affects. This picture relates because every own of our choices lead to a domino effect and it is usually out of our control because we aren't able to reverse it and take back what we did.

It has been seen that every action has a consequence and that people must be aware of these consequences in order to make sure that they do not hurt themselves or others around them. This can be seen first in the Crucible. Abigail is aware of the consequences or her actions and that she is ruining the lives of innocent people just to satisfy her own wants. She knows the consequences of her actions, but does not let her conscience affect her in any way. The same sort of idea of actions and consequences can be seen in Hop Frog. This is demonstrated by the actions of the king and by how the King did not care that he was terrorizing Hop Frog for his own amusement and the amusement of others. This action had the consequence that Hop Frog retaliated and ended what he though to be the evil king. There were unintended consequences due to the wrong actions of the King. People must always be aware of the potential consequences that their actions could have. The image is also demonstrating that there are unintended consequences for every action that someone takes. People are always forgetting to think of others and what can happen if they treat others in the wrong way. We see this happen throughout all the stories and it is occurring in everyday life as well.

In this unit I have learned a lot about how choices can seriously affect our lives because there are consequences and awareness of things someone did. One example of this would be from "Telltale Heart" when the narrator had killed the man, hid the body and said, "No doubt I now grow very pale...Yet the sound increased-and what could I do? It was a low, dull, quick sound" (Poe 1). The narrator had made a choice to kill a man and then hide the body, but the consequences caught up to him once his mind became aware of what he did, pure guilt had taken over in him and caused him to give himself away. Another (similar) example would be from The Black Cat. The narrator never really noticed he became aware of what he did but his conscience did when he "withdrew [his] axe from her grasp and and buried the axe in her brain" (Poe 2). The narrator had murdered his wife without really even thinking about it but it was his choice to do it, after a while it shows almost as if he's going more crazy because his conscience is becoming aware of what he did and it's driving him mad, but he faced his consequences because of the guilt. Overall I learned from this unit that you should be cautious of what choices you make because you could regret it later on. The image below relates because guilt is what drove the people in the texts to their consequences, it crushed them.

Ian Hayes - Unit 3 Reflection:

Throughout the course of the unit, as we explored various texts and observed different reactions like sanity and reaction, a singular prominent lesson was taught to me. I truly learned that vigilance is necessary in order to restrain one's self from unsavory choices, and to avoid unnecessary consequences as a result. Mainly found within Edgar Allen Poe's story "The Black Cat" the narrators inability to restrain his own perverse desires led him to not only murder his cat Pluto, as well as drowning himself in spirits, but he would kill his wife in an attempt to claim the life of another innocent animal. All his choices are due to his own lack of self discipline, paranoia, and addiction to alcohol. His actions at hiding the body would be his final mistake, as that action, and the resulting boldness and audacity that he exhibits with the police would lead to his arrest and death; the consequence for his actions. But Poe would not leave the lesson in just one work of literature, as he would teach a similar lesson with the much more recently read story, "The Telltale Heart". The narrator once more gives in to his own desires, wanting desperately to kill the old man for which he lives with, the murder and subsequent dismemberment in order to hide his innocence leading him to drive himself mad out of paranoia. He, like his counterpart in the "The Black Cat" would end up serving himself up to the police as a result of his actions, his sanity diminishing to the point that he believes he hears the heart of the dead man. Both stories convey the same lesson, one cannot simply give in to whatever desire or though pops into one's head, as the result of such a rash choice can lead into an inevitable spiral of negative choices, all the lead you to the same end result, consequence. Be it death, embarrassment or anything in between, our choices in life have reactions, which alter others perception of us, as well as altering us. Both men that we observed in literature had their minds altered to the point of insanity, and we can infer that their choices would lead to their public image also being destroyed. This unit was truly supposed to be a lesson in not only making choices, but looking ahead, planning, and deciding how we want our outcome and reactions to play out, instead of simply rushing headstrong into any situation and blundering it up.

And as a little explanation behind the image, the choice that the biker made resulted in him falling and hurting himself, most likely due to a lack of thinking. Seeing as our entire unit revolved around people making stupid choices and facing consequences (typically pain, be it physical or emotional) this seemed relevant.

In this unit I have learned that there are not always consequences to the choices we make. In "Hop Frog" the main character ended up making the choice to kill the king and the 7 people but got away without any consequences. In "The Black Cat", the narrator chooses to abuse alcohol. That has its consequences and it ends us having him kill his wife. That added more consequences of the cops finding her dead body and got him in jail. In both of these stories they make choices. Overall, choices do not always lead to consequences.

During this unit I have learned that choices must be made with awareness of the possible consequences that will ensue the decision. Therefore, it is important that people take their time to make the correct choice and thoroughly think through the possible consequences that it may have on themselves and those around them. In The Crucible, Abigail Williams makes the decision to accuse others in her town of being witches. However, she thinks with a lot of greed because she only does it to gain power for herself, without realizing the impacts that it would have on the lives of the other people she accused and their families. This leads to someone that she loves, John Proctor, being put in a troubling situation where he ends up dying, but she realizes her choices negative effect to late. However, had she thought of how her decision to accuse her wife could ultimately effect him, she would not have made a choice that she would regret for the rest of her life. Also, in in the "Black Cat' by Edgar Allen Poe, the narrator acts on an impulse, without thinking of the possible repercussions. He decides to kill his wife because his emotions were high because his cat tripped him, but if he calmed down and thought through the decision in question, he would not have killed his wife and would not be in prison. Therefore, it is important to be aware of the consequences of our choices by thinking through the repercussions on yourself and others because when people are emotional or not thinking straight then people tend to make poor decisions. I chose this picture because it shows a women thinking of many possibilities that her actions could cause and it shows that she is focused on making the right choice.

I have learned that though choices and awareness, certain consequences are inevitable. The choices made by characters in both "Black Cat" and "Hop Frog" show that with the choices the characters make and the unawareness of what they have done/are doing give way to consequences. In the short Story, "Hop Frog" the king is constantly mistreating Hop Frog and even chooses to mistreat the girl. But the king is unaware of what he has been doing and has no clue as to what Hop Frog is doing. The king's choices and his unawareness ultimately leads to the consequence of death as Hop Frog's plan to kill him and his ministers succeeded. In the story "Black Cat" the narrator abuses the cat and eventually kills the animal. His drunken choices to kill his pet leads to the feeling of guilt when the second black cat showed up. The cat consequently has the gallows on it but the narrator is unaware of the signs. The narrator eventually chooses to kill his wife in an attempt to kill the second cat. When the police come and ask to inspect his house for the body, the narrator's inevitable consequence comes. His unawareness of where the second cat had gone in the murder of his wife, ultimately gets him arrested because it turns out he buried it in the walls with his wife. The live cat shrieks when the narrator taps on the wall and this leads to the police uncovering the wall and finding the dead body. Buried inside with the body, the cat sits on top, still alive. The narrators consequence of his arrest is because of his choices to kill the first cat and his wife and the unawareness of where the second cat went after he killed his wife.

This picture represents my thoughts because the confidence of the two characters above leads to their consequences. By being overly-confident, the narrator in "Black Cat" taps on the wall to "prove he did not kill his wife" and karma strikes when the cat exposes him. By being overly-confident, the king in "Hop Frog" believes that he is doing nothing wrong when making fun of Hop Frog, and it leads to Hop Frog killing him.

I have learned that the choices a person makes no matter how small it is will have consequences in the end. In order to avoid these consequences we have to be more aware of the consequences that might come with the choices we make. This can be seen in The Crucible when Abigail Williams continues to accuse innocent people of Witchcraft without thinking about the consequences that will come with. This theme was also evident in Hop Frog. Hop Frog decides kill the king, the seven ministers, and the people in the room because of his desire for revenge. He made his decisions by only thinking of himself and not about others.
This image represents that the decisions we make will always have unintended consequences. People tend to make decisions that will impact them in the present and not in the future. If people are aware about the consequences that will come then they will be ready to face it without being surprised when it hits them.

During this unit I have learned that choices should be thoroughly thought through before they are made, because sometimes when you do not think through the consequences, one bad choice leads to another, to try to justify that choice and so on. One example is from the Crucible, when Abigail decided to wish death upon Elizabeth Proctor using witchcraft. First, she lied about witchcraft, and then one lie led to another and she ended up losing John Proctor forever, as he was killed. Another example of this is from the Black Cat. The man was very loving towards his wife and cat, but once he made the choice to start drinking, he became an alcoholic and everything spiraled downwards for him from there. First he stabbed and killed his cat, and then his guilty conscience followed him around until he tried to kill the next cat, but ended up killing his wife, and he ended up in jail. None of this would have happened to Abigail Williams or the man from Black Cat if they had thought through the consequences of their actions early on. This image represents that sometimes there are many choices presented in front of you at once, and you really have to consider the consequences when you are making a choice.

I have learned that no matter what decision or choice that you make their is normally a consequence to it. Throughout the short stories that we read the choice that these people made in them always had consequence after the choice they made. In the Black Cat the narrator made the choice/decision to kill his wife and cat, these choice lead to the police finding out about his murders. We can assume from the story that the narrator most likely went to prison for his crimes due to the choice that he made. Another example of how choices can effect your consequences would be in the short story the Crucible. In this play one of the main characters, Abigail, was so in love with another character john Procter, that she decided to make fall claims against other people leading to around 20 people dying because of the choices she made. The picture below is a good example of how the choices you make always have consequences. The path that this person is going to take will ultimately lead to how bad the consequences are.

In unit this unit I learned that people will regret the choices they made in the long run. There are examples of this such as in A Tell Tale Heart throughout the story you can see how the narrator can't live with the decisions that he has made and you see him break down and he becomes almost insane and then he admits to his crime. Another example is in The black cat. We see how that if we can't simply control our emotions that we may do things that we regret and it is after the fact that we as humans tend to realize what we have done and how bad it could have been. In both stories you see how that they both have been found guilty of a crime and then in the end the narrators regret it. As individuals we must make decisions that we won't regret in the future.

The reason I chose this because the music is commonly used in videos where people regret things or people messed up something.

In this unit I have learned that choices and the consequences, either good or bad, can have affect on the choices in the future. Awareness of the reality also affects how someone acts around certain things or reacts to certain situations. Such as in ¨The Man In Black Suit¨ Gary was aware of his brothers death and his encounter of the Devil made him aware of the bad in the world. Gary also showed his fear with what the Devil said about his mother and how certain situations like that could happen and how evil the world can be sometimes. In the short read ¨Black Cat¨ the narrator shows guilt throughout the whole story with how guilty he felt with killing the cat and his wife also. In ¨Black Cat¨ there are many coincidences that happened with the cat(s) through his choices and was also interrogating him from what he did in the past and how that affected him now. Overall I think that the choices and experiences that we have affect our full awareness towards the world and the choices that we will make in the future.

I chose this picture to show that many choices we have to make on a daily and they might affect how the rest of the future or day goes. I think that just one little or big decision can change your future too and can either look for a better or worse future.

During the course of this unit I have learned that through making bad decisions, consequences are certain to occur. In the story, "Hop Frog", the king severely continued to bully and make fun of Hop Frog because of the way he looked. The decisions made by the king towards Hop Frog led to him seeking revenge. Hop Frog ended up hanging and burning the king and his partners as revenge for the constant bullying he faced. The brutal killing of the king and his group displayed the consequences of his decisions. In the story, "Black Cat", the main character was also faced with consequences after his decision to continuously consume alcohol. One night, during the time where he was intoxicated with alcohol, the man ended up irritating his black cat named Pluto which lead to him biting the man. He then decided to stab the cats eye out and hang it on a tree. Days later, he realized that he was being haunted by the cat he killed while under the influence of alcohol. The one bad decision the man made led to other terrible decisions which led to him being haunted by the Black Cat. All in all, consequences always follow bad decisions.

This picture shows the consequences waiting in front of people who make bad decisions.

In this unit I learned that people will regret the bad choices they make and will hold guilt until justice is served and they receive their consequences. In the black cat the narrator felt guilt throughout the whole story after he hurt and killed the first black cat. His guilt caused him to bring in the 2nd cat which was his ultimate down fall. When the cops came, he had too much confidence and started hitting the walls and the cat screamed and the cops ended up catching him. His choices in the story were no where near good ones and his lack of awareness caused the falling of his scheme. His consequence surely came and so did the narrator in Telltale heart. He had killed the old man but his guilty conscience also caused him to be caught. Both characters had good awareness and were quick on their feet to try to hide the body but their guilty conscience were their downfall and brought them to their consequences. This relates and shows that the weight on someones shoulders holds them back from moving on in life.

What I have learned is that if one is not aware of how to properly deal with a problem right away it will spiral out of control. In Edgar Allen Poes story all of the characters waited so long to deal with their problems and it caused them to act in anger and with no remorse. In the story “Black Cat” he was unaware of how to deal with his anger problem and so he went down the path of an alcohol
abuser. He woke up in the morning, felt regretful and went right back to what he did the last day. Even after he cut off the cats eye he was too far gone at that point to change. He became something he was not because he was unaware how to deal with his problem right away. The same thing happened in “hop frog” all he had to do was run away but instead, let his anger built up, until he too, finally snapped. Not only did he kill the king but he murdered every single one of the people inside the ball room and put fear into so many innocent people just so he could let out his anger out. Emotions that he failed to deal with for so long. All of the characters fell out of control because they were unaware of how to help themselves early on and it ultimately turned them into monsters.

During this unit I have learned that choices no matter good or bad play a major role in how it will affect you in the future. A good example of this is when the King in Hop-frog decides to strike and splash wine into Trippetta's face. Which made hop frog really angry which lead to the king's death. Another example of how good or bad decisions will affect someone in the future is in Black Cat. The man in the story is consumed by alcohol abuse and irrational thinking. His irrational thinking lead to him cut out his own cat's eye and eventually hanging it. His actions led him into killing his own wife by accident and hiding the body in the walls of his own home. His cockiness led to him being caught and eventually killed. The image below shows how decisions in your life either good or bad can affect the person you become

In Black Cat, the narrator decided to kill both the cat and his wife.

I have learned that when you make a choice, you have to be aware of the possible consequences, good or bad. When someone makes a choice, good or bad, they need to know what could possibly come to them because of the choice. The stories we read in class show people making a choice and ignoring whats to come. In the story "The man in the black suit", the little boy Gary makes the decision to go farther into the woods when his parents told him not to. He then encounters the Devil and gets really scared and worried. This is an obvious consequence and Gary was unaware of this. Gary was shocked when he saw the devil come up behind him and he totally didn't expect something like this to happen to him. Another situation comes in the story, "tell tale heart" by Edgar Allan Poe. The man had killed someone and he acted like its not a big deal and acted like nothing happened and thought he wasn't going to get caught. But he was unaware of the possible consequences and when cops were investigating him, a loud agitating noise went off and he admitted to the murder. As you can see, people need to be aware of possible consequences when they make a decision or else things could go bad.

Throughout this unit I have learned that the decisions a person makes will not only affect his/herself but also affect others around them. It is very important that people take their time and be aware of their outcomes before they take any action. In "The Black Cat", the narrator describes his drinking habits and how he affected his families lives in a negative way. The narrator took his anger out on his second cat because of what he did to his first cat; by doing that, he killed his wife in return. To extend this point even further I believe that Abigail in "The Crucible" made rash decisions and ended up "murdering" many victims. During the story, Abigail went to the forest at night to use witchcraft to make John Proctor love her but was caught by the Reverend. She did not think of the outcomes of her actions which made a little decision turn into a deadly one. In conclusion, people should always take their time to look at what could happen because of their decisions.
This picture really reflects what we have read because every singles character's decision has a consequence whether good or bad. In addition, the consequences might even lead to certain actions.

Throughout this unit I have learned that we should be more aware about we treat people. And how we should be aware in the choices we make because of the consequences we could possibly face. In the story "Hop Frog" the king treated Hop Frog in a very poor way and bullied him and humiliated him. To the point where Hop Frog made a very dangerous choice to show the king what consequences he faces after the continuous bullying to Hop frog. We should be conscious to how we treat each other and how our choices can impact other people. I chose this photo because we as a society should be be conscious about out decisions and how they can affect people and how we all should learn to get along even if someone hurts us.

During this unit, I learned that people who choose to make a bad choice will always have terrible consequences or guilt following them around. For example, in Poe's "Hop Frog" the King willingly chooses to throw wine on Tripetta when she tries to defend Hop Frog when he refuses to drink more wine. This bad choice comes back to haunt the king as it is the last straw for Hop Frog, who decides to kill the king. Years of choosing bad choices ultimately caught up with the King, as his death was one of the most horrific ways to die. Another instance where making bad choices ultimately caught up with some one was when people began to stop believing Abigail in The Crucible. Abigail had chosen to falsely accuse many people of witchcraft, even though she knew what her terrible actions would cause. She fails to realize what evil her actions have caused until John Proctor, the man she is in love with, is sentenced to death on suspicion of being a witch. In this case, the consequences of Abigail's actions were the death of many innocent people and the cursed legend she has left behind in history. Even now, most people who know the story behind the Salem Witch Trials cannot help but hate Abigail for her vile actions. The picture below was something that really stood out to me because even though some choices are deeply in a gray area, most choices have clear consequences that will appear if you choose the morally wrong choice. After all, from the day we are brought into this world, we are constantly taught the difference between right and wrong.

This unit has taught me the horrific capabilities of someone pushed beyond their emotional limit. As evidenced in the stories "Hop Frog", and "The Black Cat", people are more likely to make a choice to act horrendously when emotionally 'harmed'. In "Hop Frog", Hop Frog is put off by the years of belittling by the King and his ministers, as well as the poor treatment of Trippetta. He was benevolent towards the king, through giving him ideas for parties, yet as soon as he treated Trippetta poorly, he was pushed past his emotional boundary. He decided it was time to kill the king. Similarly, in "The Black Cat", the man loves his wife enough marry her, yet when discomforted by the Black Cat, and his inability to kill it, he kills his wife. Her preventing of the cat's death caused his emotional pain, leading to his atrocious action.
This picture connects to the concept of being pushed past an emotional limit, causing inhibitions towards murder and other heinous actions to disappear.

During this unit, I have learned that a person's consequences can lead to many different things and someones choice will always result in some kind of consequence. In the stories "Hop Frog" and "The Crucible", Hop Frog was a person who was constantly bullied by the king and everyone else around him by making him drink when he did not want to. The last time he was made to drink, he had killed the king because of what he had been doing. That would be the King's consequence. In the story, "The Crucible", Abigail Williams had accused many different people that they had done witchcraft and claimed that they have the devil within them. The people who had been accused kept saying that they have not seen the devil at all and they would be hung because of it. At the end of the story everyone realizes that Abigail was lying and that she will go to hell for it. These choices that people had made had led to them having bad consequences in the end.

I used this picture of cause and effect because the people in the stories would do something wrong as the cause and their effect would be consequences.

Throughout this unit, I have learned that the decisions people make require careful consideration in order to avoid unwanted consequences. For instance, in The Crucible, Abigail decides to convict others of witchcraft in order to avoid punishment for sinning in the woods by shifting the blame on to others in her town. However, this choice led to the death of 20 people, including the man she loved, John Proctor. If she had not chosen to convict others of witchcraft and took responsibility for her actions, 20 people would not have died and her life could have continued without the guilt of her false accusations. Clearly, she did not carefully consider the consequences of her decisions before making them. Similarly, in The Black Cat, the narrator chose to hang his cat for avoiding him after he became an alcoholic. Consequently, he initially felt guilty for his murder and his alcoholism worsened, leading him to murder his wife, too. If he had been aware of his state of addiction and chosen not to kill his cat, he could have recovered from his alcoholism and not continued down the destructive path he had chosen. This image of a sign saying right and wrong connects because it demonstrates how some choices can lead you down the right path whereas others can take you on a more destructive path.

Within this unit I have learned that consequences are usually the result of one's unawareness from right and wrong. It's mainly the product of the character not being in-tune with their morals or lack of their being. This theme is mainly seen through the events occurring within Edgar Allen Poe's short Story: "The Black Cat." The main character's actions cause an instability within his daily relationships, within his "general temperament and character" completely changing due to his alcoholism. He ends up abusing his cat Pluto, "deliberately cutting one of its eyes from the sockets." (Poe 12) This shows the due to the tendencies of his drunken behavior, he was unable to differentiate his actions from right and wrong resulting in the mutilation of his own prized cat Pluto. The second example of this theme comes from Hop Frog when he is overwhelmed with emotion from the king abusing one of his dear friends and the clouded judgement due to the influence of alcohol. He creates costumes for the king and his men that eventually kill them, when they become a living, human chandelier.

I chose this image because it represents the choices one has, when they are unaware of right and wrong. Both paths look the same, but one will lead to a painful consequence and one will lead to good.

Throughout this unit, I have learned that one must be aware of the possible consequences when making a choice. When someone is deciding between two things, it is important to realize what may happen as an outcome depending on what choice you make. In The Crucible, Abigail tried to place a spell on Elizabeth Proctor so she could have Jon. She never thought about Jon Proctor possibly dying as a result, something she had no idea was a possibility. If she were to have some sort of prior knowledge of this, most likely she would not have pursued her plan. This idea is also portrayed in the short story, "Hop Frog". The King treats Hop Frog and Tripetta quite unfairly as if nothing is going to happen to him. Later in the story, since the King did not evaluate the possible outcomes of this situation, Hop Frog and Tripetta reacted with a master plan to kill the King as a consequence to his actions. I learned from these stories that with no evaluation, or without being aware of the possible outcomes of the situation you are involved in, you may be surprised in a good or bad way depending on the road you choose to follow.

Throughout this unit I have learned that decisions can be made without realizing others can get hurt. In the "Crucible", "Hop Frog", and "Black Cat" Abigail, the king, and the narrator made decisions that hurt others around them. Because Abigail made the decision to lie, others around her and in her community died. Likewise, the king made the decision to abuse Hop Frog for his enjoyment but didn't realize how much he hurt him. The narrator in the "Black Cat" started to drink but failed to understand how badly he treated his pets and his wife as a result of drinking. Eventually he ended up killing his cat and his wife. The picture below shows that it is ultimately up to you to understand if something is right or wrong. All three characters failed to understand that what they were doing was bad.

Throughout this unit, consequences, awareness, and choice are shown. I think it is important to understand how being aware of your own actions may save yourself from the consequences when one is given a choice. In "Hop Frog," he is given the choice of helping the king, or, killing the king. Unfortunately for the king, he was unaware of his actions of how he bullied hop frog for so long, and the consequences caught up to him, ultimately causing his death. This story is also very similar to the story "Black Cat," where the narrator is given many choices and chances to live, but is sentenced to death because of his lack of awareness. He is unaware of how black cats bring bad fortune and killed one, and started his cycle of the second cat bringing bad luck. At that moment he was given a choice to leave the cat alone or kill the second one, he chose to try and kill it but killed his wife instead, which got him caught and caused his death. So between the synthesis of these stories, one can see how it is important understand the choices you are given, your awareness, and what the consequences could be if you dont.

I learned many things through out this unit. One thing that I learned about awareness is that being aware of your surrounding is very important. The man in the story the black cat didn't check his surroundings, not noticing the new Black cat crawling into the wall with his dead wife. If he was aware of his surroundings he probably would have gotten away with the murder of his wife. One thing that I learned from both consequences and choices is that they are connected. Based on the choices that you make consequences can come out of them . Abby and all of the girls got caught doing and things in the forest so they decided to make the choice to lie. Many of them faced consequences in the movie and the book. Consequences come with choices. The image that I put connects because this kid is in timeout because of his choices, his choices gave him a consequence. He also needed to be aware of what he was choosing to do wrong, that could've prevented him from getting in trouble.

In this Unit, I learned that in order to make a choice you have to be able to accept the consequences that might come from it. In the play, "The Crucible", John Proctor made the choice to sleep with Abigail, which caused chaos and death among the people in Salem. Later, John Proctor realized that in order to make up for the actions he has committed he needed to pay the price, which was his death. Like John Proctor accepting his consequence we can see the old man in "The man in the black suit" do the same. In the story, "The man in the black suit", the old man tells the story of his horrifying encounter with the devil as a child. When the old man was a little boy wanting to go fishing, his parents warned him not to go past the fork where the river splits. Forgetting what his parents told him, he went past the fork and met up with the devil. The Old Man's decision of going past the fork resulted in him getting a traumatic and horrifying memory of the devil. Both characters from these stories had to deal with accepting the consequences that came from their choices, whether it was death or a traumatic encounter.

I learned that people often make choices without thinking of the consequences. This is represented well by "Black cat" and "the crucible" because both characters made choices irrationally and on impulse. This impulsive and irrational thinking ultimately resulted in their demise. Abigail lost her reputation in the town and failed to win over John proctor. Also, the narrator of "the black cat" not only stabbed and killed his cat from just a moment of anger, but also killed his wife for almost no reason, which led to his arrest. When actions are not considered before acted upon, people will face unpleasant consequences for their choices. This is something that all of the characters from unit 3 could have benefited from, because there were characters from each story who faced consequences for their actions.
This picture represents this well because each action affects the outcome of a situation, and that decision is not always considered.

In this Unit, awareness, consequences, and choice has a huge impact on ones decisions. Starting with the Crucible, John Proctor who had an affair with a young girl named Abby, has an affect on the lives of everyone in town. Because John was not aware of the choice he made to cheat on his wife, Abby believed the only thing standing in the way of her and John was his wife so she got an evil idea to get rid of Mrs. Proctor. In another story called ¨Hope Frog¨, the king also makes decisions that impact the outcome of his own life. In this story the king disrespects Hope Frog and his friend which in the end gets him and his colleagues killed. If this King was more aware like John Proctor should have been it could've made their life and the people around them life better. Overall ones decisions are impacted by awareness, consequences, and choices. This picture goes along with my claim because once someone gets overwhelmed it can cause bad decisions to be made.

During this unit I have learned that choices that people make can lead to backstabbing consequences in the future. This is evident in the story, "Hop Frog". The jester, whose name was Hop Frog had been mistreated and abused by his King. The king had made fun of him due to his disabilities and this caused Hop Frog to retaliate against the king. With his accomplice Tertutta, he and her had terrorized the Kings Mascarade Party and hurt many people. This allowed them to escape and they were finally free from the king. This shows that the choices the king had made against Hop Frog had led to consequences because Frog had terrorized the kings party. This is also evident in the story of the "Black Cat" because the narrator had made many poor choices due to his alcoholism. He had killed his wife after she prevented him from killing his pet cat. After a couple days the police had searched his house and came across the body of his dead wife in the walls. He was later arrested and put into jail for committing this crime. The choice of killing his wife had come with a consequence of facing jail time. All in all, in the stories "Hop Frog" and "Black Cat" I have learned that choices that people make can lead to backstabbing consequences in the future

Hop Frog decided to get revenge on the king for splashing wine in some girl's face. What he got out of that was what he expected, but it could've been worse. The narrator in "Black Cat" impulsively killed his wife so he could then kill Pluto, all out of anger. Not knowing what he could've gotten into until it was too late, he then regrets it.

Throughout this unit, I have learned that people often make choices without knowing and or considering the consequences due to a lack of awareness. In Hop Frog, the King and his ministers enjoyed tormenting Hop Frog for their own amusement until he could not take it anymore and decided to kill them all. The King and his ministers did not know treating him this way would result in this kind of reaction, otherwise they might not have decided to treat him that way. Also, in TMIBS, Gary chose to go further into the woods than he should have, and encountered the devil. When making this decision, he did not know he would experience one of the most traumatic moments of his life. But, if he would have listened to his parents, this would not have happened.

I chose this image because it shows that making choices impulsively, without considering the consequences, can result in negative outcomes

Throughout this unit, I have learned that awareness is required when making a choice in order to limit possible consequences. One example of this is shown in the short story "The Man in the Black Suit." In the story, the main character, Gary, makes the choice to ignore his parents' orders to not go past the "fork in the river" without giving it much thought. As a result of this, the Devil appears to Gary and he barely escapes with his life. In addition, the claim that unawareness when making decisions can lead to negative consequences is exemplified in the short story "The Crucible." In the story, Abigail Williams chooses to accuse others of witchcraft, leading to chaos all over the town. Her motivation when making the decision was most-likely out of her love for John Proctor, so her carelessness lead to many consequences. I chose a picture of a fork in a road to represent my thoughts because it symbolizes the possible negative consequences when making an important decision.

In "The Crucible", Abigail Williams decided to continue with the lies of witchcraft. All of the town turned on each other because of her lies. The King in "Hop Frog", was just as cruel as Abigail Williams. He was unfair to the Hop Frog and little did he know that the Hop Frog would act out with revenge against him. At that party all of the guests were endangered because of the Kings unfair ways. Just one unrighteous act can be detrimental to the person who acted unfair but also to the others around them too.

I saw this in the text The Crucible when Abigail Williams started accusing all of those women of doing witchcraft when they were innocent the consequence that Abigail had to watch was the people that she accused get hanged if they did not confess. Another way that this is shown throught the text is through the story Black Cat. The narorator of this story was an alcholic and he was very mean to the other animals in his house and his wife but not the cat named pluto. One day he came home drunk and the cat bit him so he hung the cat and the consequence to this action was that his house ended up burning down. Then later in the story he ends up killing his wife and burring the new cat that they got and when the police came to their house the cat meowed and sent the man to prison. This is just another concequencw that the man had to deal with due to his actions. Overall during this unit I have learned that concequences happen because of the things you do and how you choose to deal with them.

In the story "Hop Frog" Hop Frog has been bullied by the king for his entire life. When he finally decides to get back at him by creating thee "human chandelier" with him and his seven men, he not only kills the king but he also kills the innocent people that are in the ballroom witnessing this. As well as "Hop Frog", The Crucible also shows this. Abigail's choice to continue with accusing innocent people instead of owning up to performing witchcraft, she lets innocent people die and be falsely accused. I chose this image because it shows the two decisions people can choose to make. The colors also depict this because by displaying the wrong as black it shows that making the wrong decision can affect you in a dark way.

During Unit 3 I have learned that choices we make may lead to consequences. That is why when we make a choice we should always think about the consequences. In the Crucible, John Proctor made a choice to commit adultery with Abigail, because of John Proctor's choice the whole town was affected by the Salem Witch Trials. John Proctor had consequences as well by being hanged at the end of the play. Furthermore, In the short story Black Cat, the narrator was an alcoholic and he was very abusive to his wife and animals, because of the narrator's choice to kill his wife and Pluto he had to deal with the consequences of being caught for murder. In the photo below it symbolizes our choices we make. The photo indicates either way our choice we make we always need to think about the consequences of that decision. Overall, in this unit I learned that making choices is a big part of our lives and that if we don't think about the consequences of our choices that choice may ultimately affect our lives.

Hop frog was aware of the consequences the men who did him wrong would get. Karma will come back to them and it sure did Hop frog killed them and get his revenge.

Based upon the texts and the in-class discussions from this past unit, I have learned that it is important to be aware of the consequences of our actions when making a decision because when we make choices without considering the future, the repercussions can be quite harmful to not only ourselves, but also others. In The Crucible, John Proctor’s decision to commit adultery leads to a major conflict within the play and ultimately his own death. When John and Abigail had the affair, neither of them thought about the potential consequences of their decision in the future. However, with the advent of the Salem Witch Trials, John was suddenly forced into an uncomfortable position in the town because he held key knowledge about the trials that could not be released without also confessing to adultery. Had John considered the potential outcomes of his decision prior to sleeping with Abigail, he may have been able to save the town, the lives of those accused of witchcraft, and his own life. Additionally, in “Black Cat,” the man becomes so engorged in attacking the second cat that he impulsively kills his own wife. Had the man stopped and thought about his decision prior to committing murder, he may have chosen differently, saving not only his wife’s life, but his own as well by avoiding the consequences for committing murder. Thus, in both The Crucible and “Black Cat,” the repercussions of careless decisions made by characters led to unnecessary harm that could have easily been avoided by being aware of the consequences of their choices.
The slightly humorous image below reflects a similar message. The person jumping off of the diving board is only thinking about his present goal: catching the ball. However, his unawareness of the future - landing in shark-infested water - will lead to a consequence that will make him regret making the decision to jump off of the diving board. Therefore, we should avoid making impulsive decisions so that we make more sound choices that will be beneficial not only in the present, but the future as well.

In this unit, I learned that the choices people make can lead them down a dark path. In The Crucible, Abigail and her friends are caught "dancing" in the woods by Paris and could face harsh punishment for suspected witchcraft. So, to take the blame off of herself, Abby frames people in her village of being witches to take the blame off of her. But, this only leads to the death of 20 people and even the death of her lover, John Proctor. Also, in The Black Cat, the narrator makes one bad choice, he decides to kill his cat because it would not leave him alone. That one choice influenced his alcohol addiction to get stronger and eventually ended up killing his wife and buried her in his house. I chose the picture of the devil and an angel on a mans shoulders because it shows that we often let the evil side our personalities get the best of us. When this happens, we often times regret it.

During this unit I learned how almost every action has a direct consequence. Going off of this, it’s important that people are always aware of how their decisions can have an impact on their life in both the short and long term. These decisions can impact one individually and other people around them in both a positive or negative way. In “Black Cat” the man gets so angry and focused on killing the second cat that he ends up killing his wife out of rage. If he had been able to control his emotions or just have taken a second to think about what he was about to do, his wives life would have been saved and he wouldn’t have had to do all the work to hide the body. In The Crucible, once Abigail decided to “go along with” the allegations that she was part of the group practicing witchcraft and confess. Her decision to confess and accuse other people are what got the Salem Witch Trials started. If she had told the truth the entire time, many innocent people wouldn’t have been killed. In the end, her actions ended up backfiring on her because Proctor ended up dying as a result of the trials. The image I picked depicts how whenever an individual makes a decision something happens almost immediately after. People often make decisions without realizing how quickly their decisions might have unintended consequences.

Throughout this Unit I have learned a lot about the Consequences that people face after a decision. For example, in the short story "Hop Frog", Hop frog had made a decision to KILL the king and his 7 ministers. This decision will haunt him in the future or maybe it wont. All of the short stories in this unit reflected on the decision s that ere made. Even if a person thinks it is a right thing to do, like hop frog thought when he killed the king, it may be the opposite. In the other short story, "Black Cat", the narrator killed his cat out of anger and because of his alcoholism. The affect when he killed his cat and wife, that was unforgettable. The cat came back and helped the police find the dead body of his wife. Overall, facing consequences is a big part of making decisions and will affect in a good way or
I chose this photo because it had a great representation of how right and wrong decisions will take you two paths in life.

The main thing that I have learned from Unit 3 is that every choice we make has consequences. Whether they be good or bad, there are always consequences. It really was hard to find someone that made good decisions and were rewarded for it. In fact, it was the opposite in The Crucible. Abigail Williams made awful moral decisions throughout the play, and got away with them the whole time. The person who did make the right decision at the end, John Proctor, was hanged. Now this is not to say that a person should make bad decisions, but consequences may not directly correlate to the decisions we make. In another text Hop Frog by Edgar Allen Poe, every decision that Hop Frog makes affects him in the slightest way. Whether that be a better reputation with the king, or whether that be punishment with the ministers. All of these little decisions ultimately built up to his big decision to kill the king and the ministers. This goes to show that what seems to be the littlest decision may end up changing your life forever. In Hop Frog's case, he has to live the rest of his life as an outlaw and can never return to the kingdom. The picture I chose relates to both stories in many ways. It shows that both decisions have unexpected consequences (domino at the end) and that little decisions (each domino) has a big impact.
