Military volunteers are people who join the military by their own free will. When volunteers join the military they are to fight the armed forces of a foreign country. Some of the main reasons people volunteered to join the military were because they believe in a cause and fight for it, they want to see action and to qualify for non-financial benefits such as citizenship or to get education.
