         <description><![CDATA[<div>Montag is the main protagonist in the book. He starts off as a complacent fireman, but as the book goes on, he realizes he is not satisfied with the society and he is "unhappy". The narrartor describes him as a "minstrel man".<br>He shares his thoughts and feelings about the way he feels about books, and he thinks with not having books, that is the reason for his unhappiness. &nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Mildred is Montag's wife, who is a basic citizen of their society. Her life revolves around the use of technology and she even calls the T.V room her "family". Montag eventually becomes very different from Mildred and starts to fall out of love. We know that because he shows that he does not care if Mildred ends up dying from overdosing on sleeping pills.          <title>Clarrise, character foil of Mildred</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Clarrise is a 17 year old girl who lives near Montag. One day after work, Montag stumbled upon her on the street. She is not like the others in society. She is seen as an outsider. She does not get caught up technology, like Mildred does. She explores new things and makes her own opinions. People like her are the people that others in the society worry about because they are scared she will spread information around. She makes Montag realize that he is not happy with his life and that their is more to life than technology and burning books.  She talks to Montag about how she stays away from kids because they kill each other and get into car wrecks, little did we know that she was indicating a foreshadow, and we found out that she gets killed in a car wreck.<br><br>"Her face was slender and milk-white, and in it was a kind of gentle hunger that touched over everything with tireless curiosity"<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Beatty is the head fire chief. He seems to have a vast knowledge of literature and someone who cared about books in the past. Beatty gives Montag what their society was so good at witholding. Such as&nbsp; information, things to think about, and the truth of how they got there. He gives Montag an entire history of their society, and of his profession. He also&nbsp; urges Montag not to overlook how important he and his&nbsp; firemen are to the happiness of the world. He tells him that every fireman sooner or later becomes curious about books.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>

As the book goes on, Montag grows more and more intrigued at the idea of literature and Montag wants Faber to help him understand books. Faber ends up influencing Montag to pursue literature and decides to help him with his plan of planting books in the homes of firemen so that the firemen will get arrested and there will be no one to enforce the anti-book laws.<br><br>Faber declares himself a "terrible cowardice"<br><br></div>]]></description>
