There are four main reasons the Ozark Hellbender is endangered. They are suffering from abnormalities, habitat loss, disease and nest disruption. Habitat loss and nest disruption are both harmful effects caused by humans. Mining near their nests has resulted in them not having enough rocks for shelter and forcing them to leave.
