Throughout this Spanish class, I have learned many new things about the Spanish language and culture. I can now express what I will be purchasing, eating, wearing, and many other things. Through this Spanish class, I can carry out conversation with other Spanish speakers. Although I am not fluent, I can recognize fragments of sentences and join those ideas to grasp an understanding of what is being said to me. This class helped me improve my basic Spanish knowledge and helped be explore the language.

Our first unit of new material in the class taught me about school in Spain and certain terms in Spanish relating to school. I learned what my different school subjects are like in Spain and I also learned how to tell a Spanish person my favorite classes. I loved comparing it to my school life in the United States, it made me imagine myself in Spain and how different it would be. In this unit, I recall longing for a break time in the middle of my school day just like the Spanish “siesta.” This learned material helped me express what my school day was like and also made me be able to hear what my peers had to say as well.

In the second unit of Spanish II, I learned about the living accommodations in Spain. This unit helped me express my thoughts on apartment life and helped me able to talk about living in Spain. Using this new Spanish vocabulary, I can talk to my peers about my house and what is in it. I can also tell people about what it is like living in Spain.

In the third and fourth unit of this course, I learned how to talk about my family and what I like to do in my free time. With this knowledge, I could express my thoughts to other people. I could introduce my family in a conversation which would be very helpful in Spain. I also can tell people what I enjoy doing and that helps me strike up conversation with other people.

In the fifth and sixth unit of learned information I could express my knowledge on what I eat and what I buy (clothes). Wiry this information I could begin ordering at a restaurant and talking to their people about what I like to eat. I could also buy clothes and tell people about it with my newly learned retail vocabulary. I could also ask people what to buy and where. This would be especially helpful in Spain because I could get souvenirs and the best food in the city!

Lastly, I learned about a typical city day inn a Latin America city. This was very interesting to me and helped me express my thoughts to others. I especially liked this because it showed me what it would be like to live in Spain. It also helped me learn about transportation in Spain and what to expect if I lived there. This unit was very cool to me because I could be able to imagine myself actually living in Spain.
