Teachers can use technology to give a voice to students who would otherwise be too timid to share during face-to-face instruction. Technology fosters a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) that provides students multiple avenues to communicate their ideas, reflect on their peer's ideas, and show what they learned. Many online tools allow students to express themselves creatively through pictures, videos, or other media past the conventional pen to paper method. Differentiated instruction can be accomplished through the use of speech-to-text, translating software, and e-readers.

Teachers can use technology to foster a peer-to-peer learning culture by giving the space and time for collaborative work and discussion. Through zoom, the feature of "break out rooms" places students into groups to have those conversations. Also, the use of the "chat box" can also promote peer-to-peer learning. The chat box allows students to ask questions, make statements and talk to their peers. Students learn from each other and the viewpoint of seeing mistakes as part of the learning process will be learned when students are engaged with each other and having discussions where they learn/grow from each other.

In an in person environment you usually only get the answers from a few individuals (usually the more outspoken students). Technology gives quite students the opportunity to process the information and then share. In addition, students can access site again to add new thoughts.

It is easy to scroll through and read each others answers without a cluttered look (it resembles sticky notes actually). Digitally asking/sharing thoughts is great because everyone can read each other's answers really fast. Imagine a real life alternative to padlet: taping pieces of paper on the wall and allowing a gallery viewing? It isn't optimal.

In the past, teachers have provided safe, welcoming classrooms where all students have an opportunity to learn, engage, and interact with their peers. Today, both teachers and students are learning how to move these opportunities into their virtual classroom. Fortunately, there are so many different platforms for teachers to use in their classroom to engage all learners in class discussion! Teachers can facilitate whole class discussion, small group discussions, nonverbal discussions using chat features on zoom, and more. The variety in today's technology allows each student, no matter what type of learner, to enjoy and interact online.

I think one of the hardest arts is giving all students the chance to speak and give their own thoughts. Something we talked about in EDMS 272 and was also brought up in the first video is that teachers currently are able to free up time and space. We are given the opportunity to see the students as individuals. I think there is a lot of stress about providing academics teachers are rushing through when theres so many tools like PearDeck and padlot that allow every student to speak and have a voice without it being chaotic over zoom. It allows students to engage in the classroom. it allows students to want to use their voice.

Peer-to-peer learning is a key aspect for students development and learning outcomes. Students learn well from others by sharing ideas in class discussion or working in small groups. Zoom breakout rooms is a great tool that can promote peer-to-peer learning where students can go through trial and error process. Making mistakes is a part of learning, so I feel that as a teacher we should make mistakes common and acceptable. Mistakes should be celebrated and thought of as a learning tool. Another great tool would be flipgrid, where students can show their progress while also viewing their peers process. At the end of the day, it's all about community and how comfortable students are with one another.

This can be done through zoom breakout rooms or polls. Tools such as flip grid are also useful so that students can interact with each other and the teacher can see the students speaking not in real time. Other tools could be ones that are more inclusive to students with disabilities or English Language Learners such as talk to text tools and captions. These tools will give the students the ability to engage in class discussion by allowing them the language tools necessary to do so.

Students can interact with the lesson using Peardeck. They are able to give a written response where the teacher can share all response with the class. Flipgrid is another great tool which allows the user to upload videos. Students can plan and practice what they are going to say before they publish their finalized video. Padlet allows users to write their post, as well as comment below other's. This would be useful for having class discussions. Students can post their answer and respond to a classmate's post. The teacher can also comment to encourage ongoing conversations.

Many times our students need time to process what they learned and they cannot just raise their hand right away and give us a response. Using a tool such as Flipgrid allows a student to process their thought and use their voice, one which we might not hear in the classroom. with Padlet students can process their thought through writing or even drawing something for us. This will allow for all our students to actively participate and contribute in a way that is easier for them.

I was able to use this tech tool for one of my presentations and it went really well! Through peardeck students are able to actively follow along or work at their own pace. During the presentation questions and activities can be incorporated to engage the students. I enjoy the feature that displays answers because it is the creators decision to share. The answers are also anonymous which is nice to have for students who are hesitant to share. Peardeck is connected to google for anyone to access.

Teachers can foster peer-to-peer learning through various collaborative platforms. Because online learning can feel so isolating, it is especially important at this time to ensure that students make meaningful connections with one another. Several ideas to do this are using Zoom breakout rooms to allow students to interact more meaningfully in small groups, using GoogleDocs to allow students to work collaboratively on an assignment, and using Flipgrid to allow students to hear one another's voices and have a face to put to a name. The first two (Zoom and Google Docs) are real-time, meaning that students can see when their peers make mistakes and help them problem-solve and find a solution together.

In the classroom, a lot of activity and discussion is happening "live". Although this is beneficial at times, using technology INTENTIONALLY can allow ALL learners to participate and share their thoughts. Allowing students to write answers in Padlet, rather than speak in front of 30 peers in class, will already open up engagement for a lot of students. Others need a little more time to process. Allowing students to share in others ways, like Flipgrid, will accommodate students who like to improvise, and students who want to read a planned script. Both are valid ways of processing thoughts and sharing information.

There are many technological resources that teachers can use to generate equal student participation in the classroom. For example, Zoom is a video conferencing app that allows distant learners to participate in a live lecture and use their voice during class discussions. Students can also collaborate one-on-one or in group breakout rooms, which can give them more access to sharing out their thoughts. Zoom also place all students in the forefront, which can increase their sense of equality and belonging in the classroom as they are able to put their voice out just as much as someone who usually sits in the front of a physical class. Additionally, EduBlogs is another tech resource that teachers can use to enhance equal participation amongst their students. For instance, EduBlogs is a website where students can create, collaborate, and customize their own blogs. This is a great way to gear all students to use their voices as their freely share their thoughts, feelings, and new ideas for others to read.

In my placement, we have used multiple sources of technology to deliver our lessons and assess the students' knowledge. Some programs include Kahoot, Jamboard, Zoom Polls, the Chat in zoom, Google Slides, and more. My CT always models for the students how to access each form of technology, and we try to make everything accessible to all students.

Technology has helped allow students to speak up and share their thoughts in ways besides actually speaking. Some students are not always comfortable giving a verbal answer to the whole class, but I now see students share the answer to the class through a Zoom chat, or message the teacher and the teacher shares. There are ways now for students to give feedback through various polls and digital surveys, with Zoom, Google Forms or fun ones like Quizizz, which can allow the information to get to the teacher quick, and be able to keep track of it. Furthermore, there are ways such as padlet in which students can share their thoughts and answers, with or without their names if they want. All in all, technology has expanded the ways students can have their thoughts shared without having to share them out loud.

Teachers can use technology to give all students the opportunity to share their thoughts through various online platforms. An example of an online application that can be used to do this is Flipgrid. Flipgrid allows students to make a personalized video in which a student can express their ideas vocally. These videos can be shared with the whole class, or just to the teacher. However the teacher wants to use Flipgrid for, it allows the students to share their voice on a topic/subject, and although we are not face to face, it is important for students to still have that space and opportunity to share their ideas.

Julia Beatty: Teachers can use technology to provide platforms that allow all children the chance to respond to posed questions. This is one of the benefits to virtual teaching, because in person there would not be enough time for everyone to share out their answers or the students would be to shy to share out. Technology can be used as a support to shy students and provide them with the security they need to share their ideas.

Teachers can actively use technology to engage all learners in class discussion through tools that are created and practiced beforehand. I think it is important for us as teachers to be prepared for instruction and involve children. At my site with kindergartners the technology we use now is mostly zoom where the children audibly express their understanding as well as show the camera their efforts on the worksheet. Face-to-face, however I have physically gone in the classroom and explored what technology is used to engage learners and that includes an aver document camera and an interactive promethean board that has a lot of opportunity an potential to promote class discussion and keep the children involved. I hope that whatever classroom I end up in one day I have access to these helpful tools and resources. If these resources are not available to me or other instructors then I want to take other domains that are available online for teachers such as those introduced in this course.

Flipgrid, Jamboard, Kahoot, Zoom poll, and many other applications can allow students to be engaged and participate in the classroom. These can easily be put in a Google classroom to have the students do it. Also, these applications allow for a link to be put in the Zoom chats while students are on a Zoom call and have the information in real time and have them engaged. This also gives teacher feedback on how they are doing in real time.

There are so many different ways for teachers to actively use technology to engage all leaners in class discussion. Teachers can incorporate a variety platforms to their teaching to meet the needs of all students. Some platforms include: Zoom breakouts, Padlet, Jamboard, Peardeck, and Flipgrip. In a class discussion through zoom the teacher can allow two different types of discussions: whole group and small group. For those who feel more comfortable discussing in small groups then the teacher can break out the students to discuss in breakout rooms. If the teacher is having a whole group discussion through zoom then the teacher can ask those who would like to speak to raise their hand and use their voice but for those who express themselves better through writing then the teacher can allow students to write in the chat. In addition to the chat, the teacher could utilize other writing tools like Padlet and Jamboard. The teacher can also post a discussion board in the students google classroom where students can post their response and then respond to one friend or use Flipgrid for students to practice using their voice.

One way to engage all students is by sharing in PearDeck where students can all have an equal voice during a discussion and it is not just one person sharing to the class. There is always one student that shares every time the opportunity is given and through Pear Deck, students can read every ones responses. Another way to engage students is through FlipGrid where students respond through video. Students have the opportunity to process the information they are going to say and practice it before responding online. Both options are fun ways to get all students to engage and interact, whether it is online or face-to-face.

Groups of about 3 or 4 can foster students ability to work together, create new ideas and become more resourceful. Through technological apps such as google docs and basecamp students can work with their peers to create or learn about new ideas. It is always important to note that each student has a different way of viewing education meaning they learn differently. Providing students with multiple platforms where they can not only learn new information but understand that information and process it in a way that they remember it is important. For example, if you have a student who learns through drawing out their notes into pictures then AbodeDraw and QuickDraw may be very beneficial for this student. Providing students with the means to grasp information via online has become a top priority recently and because of the tools technology has provided it has become possible for education to take place and even grow via online.

The use of different technologies can engage the students in different ways. In watching the videos it reminds of the Universal Design for Learning curriculum in which teachers play to students strengths. And they understand that not every child has the same strengths. So, different technology tools can give them the freedom to choose in order to show they have learned the information. Whether that is through, video, interactive poster, slides, etc.. It plays to their strengths.

Students use creative tools to take pictures, draw, record videos and more to capture learning in a portfolio. It is a wonderful platform for all subject areas and promotes student engagement with curriculum while integrating technology. Although Seesaw can be used across all grade levels, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students are at the perfect age to utilize this platform and all of it has to offer.

There are many interactive programs that teachers can use to give the opportunity to all students to share their thoughts. The easiest and probably most accessible is Word Doc. I really like using Thinglink and Flipgrid because they are fun, interactive and give you so many different opportunities to create a document where you can share an idea or your thoughts.

Teachers use technology to foster a peer-to-peer learning culture through Zoom breakout rooms or with a program named Kahoot. The latter is a game-based learning platform, used as educational technology in schools. Its learning games, are user-generated multiple-choice quizzes that can be accessed via a web browser or the Kahoot app. I think teachers can make their students understand that it is ok to make mistakes so that students can learn from them. Sometimes my CT doesn’t open the right document, choses the wrong image to show her students and explains that she made a mistake, but now she knows what she needs to do the following day in order to open the correct document. We can gain so much knowledge from our mistakes, and all it takes is the willingness to learn from them. Without mistakes, we lose countless opportunities to gain valuable knowledge and learn lessons.

Furthermore, teachers are navigating new websites that can be utilized to help the transition to distant learning such as GoGuardian. GoGuardian is where teachers can track students activity and navigate students to the correct tab. Technology can give students to share their thoughts through breakout rooms where the group of students is smaller. Students can feel intimidated by technology but an easy way to calm their nerves is to use interactive activities that relate to a lesson plan. Teachers can access fun and relevant videos such as students find an object that starts with the letter "B" and the following student finds an object that is the last letter of that object. For example, if student 1 finds a bear the second student finds an object with the letter "R". This allows the students to think critically and challenge them.

Quick responses do not always correlate with quality responses. I feel during a Zoom those who not have the best internet connection, may also lose out on the opportunity to share "quickly" in class. I think tools like pear deck and flip grid can help us hear all our students thoughts. I feel having students keep an interactive online journal (where you can respond back to their thoughts), can be a great to build connections with your students.

It is important as teachers to make sure that all students are being heard and that they are also able to share out in a safe, welcoming environment. Students need to be given all the opportunities to perform to their best ability. Some students are able to process information quickly, while others need more time to process. There are many technology platforms that allow all students to have a voice and share their thoughts at their own pace. Flipgrid, for example, allows students to practice what they want to say before recording a video of their response and sharing with the class. Also, sometimes making responses anonymous can give students an even bigger confidence boost to share. This can easily be achieved in a tool such as this one! Padlet! Everyone posts at their own pace and can also see others replies to feel a sense of community. In addition, Padlet has multiple forms of response, which allows more extroverted students to post a video or audio recording. For example, Pear Deck is an interactive presentation that allows students to follow through on their devices and respond to questions at their own pace. The hope is that eventually, students will reply back and share their thoughts after they have the opportunity to brainstorm what they want to say/reply back. Flipgrid allows students to process what they want to say before as well. When students are ready, they then will proceed with filming their content to push out. Personally, I enjoy Flipgrid as I mentioned in the first task of this week module that there are students in my placement where I never actually “see” their faces. But because of Flipgrid introductions, I am able to see a small glimpse of their faces and what they want to share with the class. These students are able to access the tech of Flipgrid and given me the opportunity to see their thoughts and get to know them a little for who they are. As a teacher (or TC), I found that technology used in class gave my students the opportunity to share their thoughts, and this is important to me.

I think by making lessons more student paced, teachers give their students enough time to process the information they learn so they can organize their thoughts and provide incredible feedback. During many of my classes, I remember listening to lectures and then hearing the teacher ask a question to the whole class. I usually would like to answer, but by the time I figure out what I want to say, the class has already moved on. With Nearpod, as well as other tools, I know the teacher can record a video of their lesson and input questions throughout the video to give students a chance to respond at their own pace. Technology, when used appropriately, allows all students to share their thoughts and show off their potential without the fear of embarrassment and ridicule.

There are many ways that teachers can use technology to foster a peer-to-peer learning culture. I think Zoom breakout rooms create a great opportunity for students to interact and share ideas with one another. I also think the Flipgrid application is great for allowing students to connect in a very engaging and accessible way. I also think that teachers can use technology to encourage students to see mistakes as part of learning because technology allows for almost infinite opportunities for revising and reworking assignments and tasks. Teachers can use this to give students more than one chance to get it right, which is so important for our students' growth!
