Drawing conclusions to events in the book:
My conclusion is about the event of the Wiz Kids quiz in the book. The event started to be to good too be true. It was like a natural book that always has happy parts. Melody got onto the quiz team, but I knew it was not going to be a fairy tale from there. Melody and her team won and was heading for Washington. Then a twist happened. Her team gave her a unforgettable memory about how she got left behind in Washington. That's how quiz team split up. The conclusion was that Melody even knew it was to good too be true, and a storm hit her and got knocked down and the book was leading up to this conclusion as well so in this case not every story has a happy ending.
(182-295) *the quiz weaved between the book as I kept reading.

I had a unique vision when I was reading chapter 28 because of what happened to Melody. Melody was on the Whiz Quiz Kids team and they were headed to a national competition in Washington DC. She was headed to the airport and they arrived towards the gate, and soon found out her team left without her. I could just visualize that moment, the emotion in Melody's face and how devastated she could of felt. Her heart turned stone cold, and there was no cure to fix it. The airport smell, people rolling around there suitcases, and there family, standing there in shock. This was a visual that came automatically when I was reading the book, because the moment was just so clear.
(Page numbers 256,257,258,259) chapter 28

Out of my mind is a very mixed emotion and spectacular book. It starts with Melody, an 11 year old girl who has the disability of Cerebral palsy who has struggled all of her life. Nobody thought she was capable of learning and was as smart as how she looked. She then got something that changed her life for the better when she gets a "Media talker". She was now able to speak and have a mind of her own. Once she knew she was capable to speak, she joined a group and activity called the Wiz Kids Quiz team. Her teammates were in shock when they figured out she was on the team. She worked hard for what she wanted and won her first quiz. She then faces challenges threw her family and her teammates, leaving her with a roller coaster to ride threw out the rest of the book.

(100% of the book was needed for this answer)

At first, she was a shy kind of girl. She didnt like to ignolige people and was always a shy girl. As the book continued, more things were brought up that she wanted and or wanted to do. She wanted a Media talker, so that she could interact with people and talk to them, but at first her parents said no. This is when Melody started to change. She started acting stronger and was standing up for what she wanted. Then the wiz kids team rolled around and she fighted to get on that team. She was verbally becoming stronger and she was starting to express the mind of her own. She started talking to people and becoming more open. She also didn't care what others thought anymore because she was not going to hear it. Towards the end of the book, she was the strongest, bravest and most ruthless girl. She stood up for herself and didn't listen to anyone else. She was powerful.

(100% of the book was involved for this answer)

The theme to this book is quite simple yet powerful. The author, Sharon M Draper was trying to send the message, why think of the 100 reasons to give up when you can think of the 1,000 reasons not to. The whole Melody situation was a great example of the theme. She was going to give up on the team and getting things, but she didn't. She stood up for what she wanted and thought of the 1,000 reasons not to give up. Melody was a strong brave girl that fought for what she wanted and didn't take no for an answer.

(100% of the book) ( pages 253-295)

Text to world: This part of the book, the way Melody gets treated reminds me of how this kind of low respect for people with disabilities happens all the time. This is not fair because people with conditions like melody should get treated with as much respect as normal people. So what they may be in a wheel chair and are not as attractive as you, they deserve to be treated equally with kindness and love that most and almost everyone gets and they should not be treated like trash because they are humans just like us.
( pages 256, 257, 258, 259) chapter 28
Text to text: This book is very different from other books I have read. This is because in most books, there is not a disabled person that turns out to be a strong young women sending a valuable message to kids like her. They don't tell a story about a girl that has struggled all her life and may have finally escaped the struggle. This book is also different because it sends the motto of always being strong no matter who you are, because there is always a result that you will achieve and that result is something you will be thankful for. Sharon M Draper( author of the book) creates a unique story that sends positivism to everyone that reads it.
( 100% of the book)

Exposition/Introduction:
Melody Brookes an 11 year girl who struggles with cerebral palsy comes with new challenges threw out her life. She has suffered all of her life and things were finally starting to head down the good road. Her life was changing for the better. She is quite a photographic and intelligent girl. Although she suffers from a severe condition, it wont stop her from anything.

Rising action: Melody's parents enrolled her into school at Spalding Street elementary school. She was stuck in classroom 5-H were people that also had disability's went. Melody felt like she was treated like a preschool, and she also had a mind of her own instead and she felt mistreated for who she actually was. Her life changed when she got a media talker which was a device/machine that helped Melody say words threw a machine to make it like she was actually talking. Melody was accepted to also go to a normal fifth grade classroom . She finally felt like she fit in and she thought she could finally do the impossible. She then study and practice for tryouts for the Whiz Kids Quiz team which she got accepted on! She then practiced to help her team, but her team had so little faith of her doing any good. She then went to her first competition on the team and they won. She felt confident in herself and everything she did. Melody's life took a turn on easy street for once in her life.

Conflict:
Conflict started to happen towards the middle and end leading up to the rising action. The conflict started to happen with the Whiz quiz Kids team. Melody was doing just fine, but once they won there first competition, things started changing. Being on Good morning America was so important to the team, that they didn't want Melody to be with her on tv at all because of her looks. During this part, things started going wrong in her family and everyone changed into a different person. Melody had so much confidence in herself, but it started fading away because of all the negative energy that was around her.

Climax: The climax of the book was when Moldy got left behind on the trip to Washington. When I was reading, it was all sunshine and rainbows, and then it turned into a hurricane and tornado. Melody was on her way to the airport, and she entered the gates and everything changed. The Brookes family got the news that all flights were delayed and or canceled because of the weather. They were so disappointed and they were going to tell her Whiz Quiz team the news, but Melody's family couldn't find the team. The flight attendant at the gate then said that there was a group of kids that got on a flight earlier that morning , at 9:00. The team had left Melody there, all alone. The family was in shock, and that is how things started going wrong.

Falling Action: After the whole incident at the airport, Melody felt betrayed by her team and she lost all confident and hope in herself. Three days after the day they were supposed to leave for Washington, a day came they wouldn't forget. It was a foggy day and Melody family was not doing well. Melody wanted to go to school that day, but her mom begged her not to because she thought it was a bad idea. Melody wanted to so bad, she made a huge fuss about it. Mrs.Brookes then got called in for work when it was her day off, and she started to get upset. Melody screamed and fussed and Mrs.Brookes finally gave in. As they were leaving the house, Melody's sister Penny wanted to say goodbye. They got in the car, the two of them and started to drive away. Melody soon relized she left her backpack at the house so they headed back. Mr.Brookes quickly gave Melody her backpack but fussed even more. Her mom started getting super upset and yelled at her. She was in such a rush to get Melody to school, they forgot Penny was in the street. Since it was foggy out, Mrs.Brookes could not see Penny and everything changed. Melody saw Penny running in the street and She kicked and screamed to get her moms attention. She snapped at penny, put the car in reverse and all of a sudden they heard a loud bump. Mrs. Brookes got out of the car, looked down and screamed. Penny had got hit by the car.

Conclusion:
Penny had just gotten out of the hospital and things were different. Melody became the shy, quite girl she once was and she had no more confidence in her. She went to school, not saying a word to any of her opponents on her team. She felt so mistreated from her team, when they handed her the 3rd place trophy the team had won in Washington as a sorry gift, she smacked off her tray and rolled away. Melody was the same girl as she was in the beginning, an 11 year old girl who has still never spoken one word.
(100% of the book was needed to explain the plot)

The authors writing craft/style changed threw out the book because of how she changed it to fit what was happening. Sharon M Draper writing style was unique compared to others. She switched form first person to second, and changed how she wrote things when things were negative and positive. She wrote in Melody's perspective and she wrote about what happened to Melody. Her writing was more intense as things were getting negative and she got more heart arming as positive things happened. Sharon's style of writing was unique and very exciting to read.
(100% of the book was needed for this answer)

My opinion of the book Out of my mind is a very strong one. This book was one of the most unique books I have ever read. It had so much emotion and twists, it was the perfect combination. I honestly loved this book because of how the story played out. Sharon M Draper created a reverse book. It started with a happy beginning and ended with a terrible ending. I was crying towards the end of the book ;). In my opinion, I think more events should have happened threw out the book. There were only three main events, when Melody got her media talker, when she got on the Quiz team, and when the team betrayed her. I think if there were more events, the book would be a five star book. This gave me a positive outlook on life and I think the book was unique and is now quite possibly one of my new favorite books.
(100% of the book was used for this answer)
