I am a fan of the Harry Potter franchise, but the author is constantly creating new haters by adding details to make herself seem more inclusive. For example, she has stated that Divination, the study of the methods of divining the future, or gathering insights into future events, through various rituals and tools, a subject taught at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, is not real. Readers remember the ditzy Professor Trelawney as Harry’s scatter brained teacher of divination, and while she seemed pretty pretentious and full of it, her prophecy concerning who could end Voldemort’s reign of terror is the inciting incident of the entire franchise's narrative.

In some other cases, she re-wrote the history of characters that had a prominent role in the story. For example, in the movie Fantastic Beasts andtThe Crimes of Grindelwald, it is shown that Nagini (Voldemort's pet snake from the seven Harry Potter books) was a cursed Asian woman. This one was insulting on multiple levels. When Rowling announced prior to the release of Fantastic Beasts and the Crimes of Grindelwald that she’d always intended Voldemort’s snake to be an Asian woman cursed to turn into an animal, it not only insulted the intelligence of her audience who knew full well she was making it up as she went, but also to her Asian readers who saw one of only two prominent Asian characters in the franchise being used as a literal pet. Just so Rowling could have her representation.

Needless to say, she received lots of backlash for her newly added details, putting a lot of people off by doing so and losing part of her fan base. So, if I were J.K.Rowling, I wouldn't add anything to a story that had already been complete a decade ago.
