When she was 18 months old I tried to look into getting back in to the working market by improving my skills and going back to college, I was faced with a job centre worker telling me that not only was there no help I could access but that I was better off on benefits , I felt destroyed.  When my daughter was 2 and half I took a big leap and started applying for jobs I was lucky to be offered a position in social services, however before I could accept the position I had to weigh up the affordability considering my rent, council tax, nursery costs etc. finally I found I could do it.
