For the project Revolution I decided to focus on the theme of the golden ratio. I began by looking at revolution as a physical process before moving on to my defined theme where I looked at spirals and patterns within nature. I developed this further by focusing on Shells, taking my own photos and using these images to develop my work. I researched 3 artists (Richard Sweeney, Meredith Woolnough and Anna Bucciarelli) as well as researching the golden ratio, AI and fractals. I visited two galleries in London as well as brick lane to help inspire my work. I used a variety of different mediums including some that I had never used before. I used collage a lot in this project as well as watercolour and creating digital pieces. I used the laser cutter for the first time to create a response to my AI research. I was inspired by the AI images as I thought that the composition of the shells stacked onto of each other was an interesting composition. For my final outcome, I wanted to combine Meredith Woolnough's style, my AI sculptures and Anna Bucciarellis style. In my original design, I coloured in the outline of the shells in brown pen however, I thought that this looked too flat, and the pen didn't link to the rest of my project. So I chose to make another sculpture on the laser cutter and add the watercolour flowers to it. I am much happier with this outcome as it links to my project much better.

To begin my project, I created a mindmap for my theme to help me gather ideas. The first artist that I researched was Richard sweneey and I created a paper sculpture inspired by his work and then drew from this to create a tonal drawing.

I experimented with revolution as a physical process by creating 3 pieces of work depicting spirals. I used ink, paint and made a piece on my iPad using procreate. I made a collage of propaganda art and created my own propaganda poster as well as 4 variations of the original piece. For this project I’d prefer to explore revolution as a physical process.

I began to explore my defined theme which is “The golden ratio” I created a collage representing my theme and I researched the golden ratio to help understand it more.

This week I conducted a shell photo shoot relating to the work of Meredith Woolnough. I did some research about her and found some work that inspired me. I then created digital versions of some of the photos from my shell photo shoot, these were inspired by Meredith Woolnoughs technique.

I used the laser cutter to further develop my responses to Meredith Woolnough. I used the designs on my ipad, sent them to the computer which then turned them into an image that the laser cutter could print. I chose to use ink to colour the sculptures to further represent Woolnoughs work.

I took some photos inspired by Anna Bucciarelli and painted a piece in watercolour using my photo as a reference. I also chose to explore fractals as well as creating 4 of my own fractal designs digitally on my iPad.

I used ai to generate images relating to my project and made 3 sculptures inspired by one of the images. I then edited the photos of my sculptures and created tonal pencil and a digital drawing. I researched Anna bucciarelli

Over half term, I made two collages of my trip to London. One page was about brick lane and the other showed photos that I had taken from the galleries that I visited. I also came up with the plan for my final outcome.

I finished my final outcome and took some photos of it for, different angles. As well as this, I finished my final evaluation.

I planned out my new design on my iPad and then sent it to the laser cutter to be cut out. I had to do this twice as the first time the sculpture was too small and I lost some of the detail.

This week I made the first version of my final outcome which I chose to change as colouring the shell with pen didn’t link to my project as well as if I added a wooden element, linking back to my work on the laser cutter.
