Pequena gives birth, and Rey starts making her do stuff when she isn't supposed to. She's needs to be sleeping cause she just gave birth. Rey picks up Pequena and when she sees him she makes her go back and get ready because he didn't like the way she looked. She went back inside and changed into a red dress with some black shoes. As they are driving she is thinking that Rey is going to kill her and the baby. As they are crossing the boarder to go to Honduras she begin to realizes that Rey is really powerful since he has a lot of connections with people. They arrive to a beach and Rey proposes to Pequena, and when she sees the ring she falls on her knees. Rey takes this as her saying yes but she can't say no to him since he would act out in violence and has to listen to what Rey says.

In part one it opens with Pulga, Chico, and Pequena in Puerto Barrios. We learn that Pulga has an artist heart, and he wants a steel heart because if he has a soft heart he won't be able to control his emotions and he wouldn't survive. Chico is a really soft although he has a big body and people think that he's mean when he's very kind. Pequena is pregnant and is about to give birth, she despise the baby so much that she doesn't want to know anything about it.

Pulga and Chico decide to go to don felicio's store because they couldn't stand hear Pequena scream, as they are walking to the store they see Rey and Chico is telling Pulga that he doesn't want to go to the store. Pulga tells Chico that they are almost there, they get to the store and Don Felicio's tells Pulga to never leave his mother since most guys leave to go to the United States. They get there soda's and realize that they don't have enough money so, Don Felicio's tells them that he would only have to pay him the price of one soda for the two of them if they help him restock. They agree and as they are restocking they hear a gun shot, they go and check what happened and see Don Felicio on the ground. Don Felicio dies.

As Pulga and Chico are walking to school Nestor comes to pick them up and tells them to get in the car, they have no choice to listen to him since they see that he has a gun. They arrive at a warehouse and see Rey and some of his friends, Rey starts telling them that he wants them to join their gang. In order to join his gang he wants Chico to beat up Pulga, and Pulga get Chico mad so that way he would beat him up and they won't get hurt. When Chico is done beating Pulga up Rey is impressed that he actually did it and tells them that they are now apart of the gang.

They are leaving Puerto Barrios to escape from all the danger, and they don't want to deal with all the stuff anymore.

They left the shelter to get on the train "La Bastia", they get to the train and have to wait because it hasn't start moving. They hide in some bushes and as they are waiting for it to start they notice that their are some people on it waiting, and they are burning from the hot sun. The train finally starts and Pulga was able to get on the train, Chico was having a hard time getting on the train because he was unsuccessful many times but finally managed to get on the train. Pequena could have got on the train after Pulga but she help Chico get on the train, she was also able to get on the train.
