In the novel, The Hunger Games, the author creates a world that seems closed off from the outside world which is an aspect of dystopian genre. In The Hunger Games they have distracts that are closed off by electrical fences. The Capitol has made it so that many distracts are more poor and less excess to the world than other distracts. In the book it says, " Separating the Meadow from the woods, in fact enclosed all of Distract 12, is a high chain-link fence topped with barbed-wire loops" (Collins,4). This proves that the Capital wants to make it impossible to make it out of the distract 12 alive. The only way to get out of the distracts are if you are sent to fight for your lives in The Hunger Games, or if your invited to the Capitol, which would not be good news. In The Hunger Games it shows that the distracts are closed off from the real world.

In the novel the hunger games, it shows no individuality by the author creating a world in which every one in district 12 is struggling to survive and every one has a hard labor job. We can see this when it says "Usually crawling with coal miners heading out to the morning shift at this hour. Men and women with hunched shoulders, swollen knuckles, many who have long since stopped trying to scrub the coal dust out of their broken nails" (suzanne collins 5) this shows that most people do the same thing there whole life.

In the novel, The Hunger Games the author creates a world that seems closed off from the outside world which is a dystopian game. In the Hunger Games it shows closed from the outside world by them being cut off from electricity and the electrical fence is surrounding them so they can't escape. They are not able to see the outside world because of this. "But since we're lucky to get two or three hours of electricity in the evenings, it's usually safe to touch" (Collins 4-5). This shows how they are closed in from the outside world because it shows how the electricity cut off is forbidden they from seeing the outside world.

"All colors seem artificial, the pinks too deep, the greens too bright, the yellows too painful to the eyes, like the flat round disks of hard candy we can never afford to buy at the tny sweet shop in district 12" this shows just how bad the living conditions are horendous.

In the novel, The Hunger Games, the author creates a apocalyptic world that seems taken over and doomed for war. In The Hunger Games the more poor distracts get less food, water, clothes, information, etc. The Capitol has decided to end all chaos with the Hunger Games, but now all the annual Hunger Games is just going to end up in a another war. " My father knew and he taught me some before he was blown to bits in a mine explosion" (Collins 5). This shows that The Hunger games has a apocalyptic setting because no normal world would have mines for you to step on and die. This quote supports the topic sentence because, mines have been used for tricking soldiers in war, so for the Capital and so called peace keepers to put those in the distracts is proving that the Capital has taken over. In The Hunger Games the setting is apocalyptic, and the distracts are taken over and are doomed for war.

In the novel, The Hunger Games the author creates an apocalyptic world that seems dangerous and war-like. They are in war because when participating in the Hunger Games you are going against each other. This game has many dangerous effects to it. "He lists the disasters, the droughts, the storms, the fires, the encroaching seas that swallowed up so much of the land, the brutal war for what little sustenance remained" (Collins 18). This quote proves that the Hunger Games is a dangerous world because it has things like disasters, storms, and fires. This shows a disastrous world because things like disasters and fires make the world unsafe/disastrous. In the Hunger Games the author creates an Apocalyptic world of in which the conditions to survive in district 12 are bare minimum.

In the dystopian novel, The Hunger Games, the author introduces many different rules and customs within this version of the world that she has created. For the hunger games, when you turn 12 years old, your name gets entered into the reaping lottery system once. For example... " That year, your name is entered once. At thirteen, twice. And so on..." ( Collins 13). In this society, the higher-ups in the Capital make the rules for the hunger games. The rules, however ,favor the rich over the poor. For example, Gale and Katniss enter their names extra times to get more food for their families, whereas somebody like Madge, who is from a wealthy family, has never has to do something like that. The older you are the greater chance of you getting chosen for the games. This is why it is so shocking when Prim gets selected on her first year of the reaping, because her name was on only one entry out of thousands. Although the rule sounds fair, in reality the odds are never in your favor if you're poor.

You must complete each game to move on, and many more. "Even though trespassing in the woods is illegal and poaching carries the severest of penalties, more people would risk it if they had weapons" (Collins 5). This quote proves that The Hunger Games has many rules and customs through the novel. There is a rule against trespassing into the woods. If you go into the woods you will pay consequences. In The Hunger Games the author creates a world full of rules and customs throughout District 12 in order for everyone to play fairly with the same rules.

If you lift a finger, we will destroy every last one of you. Just as we did in District Thirteen.” (collins 35) this shows that no matter how hard you try the district always has more power over you. this shows that the author uses the rule you must participate as a rule.

In the novel, The Hunger Games the author creates a character vs society conflict. For example Katniss Everdeen is going against the Capitol in the novel. Katniss is trying to prove to the capital that she is not afraid of them and they are getting rid of her. In the novel it shows character vs society when they it says. "Without thinking, I pull an arrow from my quiver and send it straight at the Gamemakers' table"(102 Collins). This shows that Katniss is slowly rebelling against the capitol. Katniss had to prove to the Capitol that she is threat in the arena and that they can not get rid of her so easy. Katniss striking her arrow threw the game makers pig shows that if they want a good show that they need to give her a bow. Katniss shows Character vs Society when she got a score of 11 after shooting her bow and arrow at the judges. This shows Character vs Society because she made a difference in the capital. "Then they're flashing the number eleven on the screen" (Collins 108). Katniss had a temper and shot the judges with a bow and arrow because she was upset that they were not paying attention to her while she was practicing.

In the novel The hunger games by Suzanne Collins she shows symbolism by the crossbow that Katness uses. The protagonist Katness has a very useful tool the crossbow. "My bow is a rarity, crafted by my father along with a few others that I keep well hidden in the woods, carefully wrapped in waterproof covers." (Collins 14) this shows us that the crossbow is a very prized possession to Katness and it symbolism her dad when he was still alive because he made it. The author uses the crossbow to bring a deeper understanding to us to see just how deep her relationship with her father was.

In the novel, The Hunger Games, a symbol that the author uses is the Katniss's golden pin. The protagonist, Katniss, has a pin that symbols her hate and rebellion of the Capital and president Snow. " At the last minute, I remember Madge's little gold pin" (Collins, 42). This pin has a mocking jay that was a failed project of the Capital so it represents that the Capital is corrupt. Madge giving this pin to Katniss gestures the rebellion and evil of the capital. The pin to Katniss is a token from her distract that shows strength and fight. That broken things are still beautiful and strong. Overall the author uses the golden mocking jay pin as a symbol to help bring the reader on a different understanding of the novel, The Hunger Games.

In the novel, The Hunger Games the author shows many different symbols. An example of symbolism is the clock. The clock is important because it symbolizes time running out. The time is running out for people, not everyone us going to live. "Just as the town clock strikes two, the mayor steps up to the podium and begins to read" (Collins 18). The time is running out and not everyone will be able to live through this kinds of world. Everyone has limited time to be alive and need to be careful and Caucasus of what they do because they wont be here forever. In The Hunger Games the author creates a world with limited time for poeple to do what they can to survive.
