> It allows people to become more tolerant to different cultures, beliefs and varying identities.
> It increases the awareness of others, meaning that they learn that there are other people in the world who may be different to you but are still fundamentally the same, they are still human. 
>It allows people to gain a new understanding of the similarities and differences of different cultures and beliefs.
 
Some of the challenges include:

> Their encounters may lead to unreasonable opinions as a result of a negative event taking place. 
>You may not be accepting of their beliefs and cultures or vice versa. 
>Different ethical beliefs.
>You or they may be reluctant to open up and communicate in order to learn and experience different perspectives.

- You hear about other people's opinions and get to ponder them and let them influence your opinions
- You learn new things
- You can tell them things that you want to talk about
- You might find a friend
Challenges:
- The person you meet might be a right git and might make you want to throw them out of a 3rd floor science classroom window
- They might be downright evil
- They might be one of those people that have a really terrible "opinion" (eg. homophobic, transphobic, racist)
- They might make fun of you for your opinions or laugh at you
- They might hate you for a part of your identity (like if you're a part of the lgbtq+ community and they're openly homophobic)
- When you're too polite to call them out on their awfulness so they keep going.
- When it's someone you can't be disrespectful towards no matter how much you want to give them a piece of your mind
