Each student was supposed have their own assigned role in the activity, however the only person who seemed to take charge or pick a role...was me.

I made most of the decisions in the assignment as everyone had different opinions and nobody could agree on one set thing. The other students did have an influence however, as I took their answers and compiled them into one big list. Decisions could have been made better if the other students could have just agreed with one another. Luckily there wasn't any conflict so we didn't have to manage or deal with it. It seems like everyone agreed with the decisions that were made as they didn't argue or make any suggestions. (We could not find an average as 1, we didn't have a record keeper, and 2, nobody really voiced their opinions on the decisions at all.) I learned that other students are very confusing and hard to communicate with. If I were to do it again, I'd make sure that everyone participates and gives their opinion. A situation at school like this assignment might be if I were working in a group on a deadline and

In conversation, your words aren't everything. Your body language and facial expressions speak volumes too. For example, if you're talking to someone you're...romantically fond of, and their body language is rigid, closed off, and their facial expression is blank, that never means anything good for your chances with them. Or, similarly, someone with a loose stance who's avoiding eye contact is likely not involved in what you're saying.

"Not everyone will agree with me, but I think that schools having dress codes/uniforms is stifling of students' self expression. I doubt that uniforms save money because school uniforms seem to cost an arm and a leg, especially when they're customized with the school crest on them. I understand that parents would be able to spend more of their time doing other things rather than shopping for clothes for their child, but they will also have to spend plenty of time getting their child to and from events within the school anyway. I doubt that students have an issue deciding what to wear, and I, as a high school student, know that no one really cares what you wear. You could come to school with no makeup, wearing a hoodie and sweatpants, and nobody would have an issue. If a student's family can't afford clothes that follow trends, no one really cares anymore, because we've fallen back to 90's fashion anyway. Personally, I feel that if people have to wear uniforms and collared shirts at work, let kids wear what they want until they have to get a job! Let us be free! There's nothing wrong with sending a message about business of learning, however I think that students will feel better about themselves if they can wear clothes they feel and look good in. Why don't we find a way for students to follow some sort of workplace appropriate dresscode, without smothering their self expression?

When I argue, my focus is usually to get my point across and make sure that the other person knows that I’m right. I often talk over them and ignore what they say. Next time I get into an argument with someone, I might let them talk first, listen to what they have to say and try to see from their point of view, as well as keep my cool and not call them names, avoid pointing out what the other person did or didn’t do. An argument is not an opportunity to show off how much you know or prove that another person is stupid/wrong. Arguments should be avoided at all costs but when they do arise, to be responsible and respectful about it.
