This caused the creation of free oxygen from carbon dioxide water, and sunlight which today is known as photosynthesis. Polar ice caps were barley there or maybe a few, winters were warm. due to the warm climate, plants and animals lived in polar regions. the Eocene Epoch was the warmest part of the time period, palm trees grew, forests covered near the North Pole. The Arctic Ocean wasn't full on frozen, relatives of alligators swam in the swamps and mammals related to lemurs climbed the trees.
