These are naturally orange in color. They can be found in Luzon (Pangasinan) and Mindanao.

Opposed to Kingfishers in Mindanao, Luzon Kingfishers have darker wings and bluish ears. And opposed to Dimorphic Dwarf-Kingfishers, Philippine Dwarf Kingfishers lack a bright blue head and back.

These birds have a high-pitch and sharp voice that sound "tsreek!"

It started last year when more than 20,000 seedlings were planted in the mountainous area of this town through the initiative of the local government unit (LGU) with the help of volunteer groups, non-government organizations, private entities, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). Mostly trees like acacia and some fruit-bearing trees such as calamansi and cashew are planted in a yearly process, with its second planting happened last August 26.

The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office's (PENRO) development manager stated, “TAK means that we as citizens should be involved in preserving and protecting our environment. It encourages people’s cooperation with the government,”

In addition, he noted to the citizens, “we should not think that we are apart from the environment as we are actually part of nature and that we should ask what we can contribute for the betterment of the environment.”

Tayo Ang Kalikasan is a movement in collaboration by DENR and us, the citizens, to develop our natural resources and protect our environment.
