Erling Strrusten started this helpful journey when he was sixteen years old. As he grew older he did more responsible tasks than he did when he was younger. Erling was very clever, he challenged the guard into letting him go back into his hometown. While he was there he planned out a map of the headquarters of the camp even with the underground tunnels included. He collected this information to give to his head leader. Erling drawed up illegal documents that he made to give to the Jews where they met in the underground tunnels so they wouldn't get caught. He passed out as many documents as he could to the Jews without getting caught. Once most of the Jews got their illegal documents they escaped out through the underground tunnels. The Jews finally could live on with their lives without getting caught because they had the documents.
