The rhythm project was created with 327 pieces of photographs and named 'The Evil Flower.' The piece's background setting is black cloth placed in the corner of the house. The primary materials include flowers, strings, tomato catchup, Santa Claus, and a desk lamp. The story tells that Santa Claus was trapped by the ropes and swallowed by the flowers. However, the flowers begin to bleed and finally die away. Santa Claus finally breaks through the shackles and comes out. The technique used in the video is stop motion, which is not complicated but time-consuming because the movie is made of all pre-photograph shooting. It supposes to be a video that reveals and satire how life is trying to let us down, but as long as we are confidential to ourselves, we will be the Santa Claus who finally breaks through the dilemma.

The theme for the final Video is a story from Greek mythology named Echo and Narcissus. Narcissus was originally a handsome youth, and one day he fell in love with the lovely face in the clear water when he went to drink from a little stream. Without knowing that it’s himself, he day and night stayed at the stream and waited for the maiden to show up and finally die. The Video wants to create the effect of the inner world of the youth while he’s waiting for his love. The techniques used in the Video are Rotoscoping and Stop motion. Types of equipment include a copy board for creating Sand Art, a digital panel, a tripod, DSLR, and a phone. Considering the Video and sound design, the audio selection will be provided in Audio Library by editing with PR. The software used in Video production is Flash and Procreate, where rotoscoping, sketching, and coloring happen. Franz Kline and James Whitney inspired the creation of a black-and-white relationship movie and visual effect by arranging objects together in a new way. Harley also mentioned an artist Wiliam Kentridge that I will also be looked up to. The animation line draft is ready to sketch, and the materials are prepared to reach my hands. The shooting and editing will begin on November 7th and approximately finished on November 10th for adjustments if possible.

How to combine stop motion and rotoscoping simultaneous is a question that Mr. Harley mentioned in class. After clearly thinking and experimenting, I will apply sand Art with stop motion as the background of my video and tracing animation for rotoscoping to present the story. Since I am telling the story of the protagonist Narcissus, the sand art is designed to describe molecules that imply growing. The technique for stop motion is familiar, record the sand art photos and editing them in software is enough for this stage. However, tracing objects and characters are much more complicated and time-consuming than I thought before. Thirty seconds of the video draft took me 325 drawings of tracing. However, the good news is that Mr. Harley does not require a 3-minute video as long as we play every slide cool enough. After attending the consultation, I will focus next on the details of the animation tracing on character. Try to Provide more dynamic emotions given to the protagonist. Moreover, I will select and edit audio sources for the next draft.

This records my secondary progress on stop motion and rotoscoping techniques. I have been experimenting with the details recalled last week during the consultation. The first aspect I have considered is to make the protagonist more detailed by rotoscoping, and I started to color the outline. However, I am facing difficulty because the PR software does not support me in doing the area coloring, so I have to modulate the colors myself. I did not consider adding facial features for the protagonist because that requires too much time and does not entirely enhance the quality of the slide. In Greek Mythology, Narcissus is a handsome youth. Therefore, I am coloring the protagonist's outline in a typical young fashion way.The second aspect is that when Narcissus is looking at himself through the stream, I have used the sand art to create the effect of water instead in the background. I will adjust the transparency level to fit with the Narcissus so that the slide will be distinct. I want to share this progress with Mr. Harley and see what I should do next.

After consultation for today, the new idea of using the background in the video came to mind. Mr. Harley showed me several things that could play around with the backgrounds in software PR. The word ‘melting’ is an interesting idea in which I can switch the backgrounds while the protagonist is moving, representing his mental activities. It can change colors and zoom for every slide in seconds. Instead of spending too much time on sand art of creating the water feature, creating slides and editing technically in PR is a good choice. It’s not all about saving time; we need to leave space for the audience to think about the video. Colors could represent Narcissus’s moods, such as blue expressing sadness; similarly, slide switching could represent the protagonist experiencing emotions or feelings in his deep mind. The audio is also important since I spend a lot of detail on the visual effect; the music should highly cooperate with the circumstance in different slides while the protagonist is moving. There’s not much time left; what I thought so far was all the improvements that I could make due to the video. I will keep recording if there’s anything left.

Approximately the version of the final draft finished. The video is two minutes long and illustrates the inner world of the Narcissus. For this final draft, I change the color and thickness for the rotoscoping sketching outline of the flower and protagonist. Moreover, I switch the background arrangements due to the idea of the last recording. What actually might be a slight change in these final days might be the audio since it’s hard to cooperate such slides with effective soundtracks. I adjust different background layers by creating images and editing them technically instead of changing transparency and putting everything together. Every slide is unique and follows the object's movement, so the audience will avoid developing visual fatigue. It might be difficult because it's an abstract video version; sometimes, it's easier to understand the theme if people have read the introduction before watching it. I want to create an effect of chaos in the video. Therefore, for now, the audios are sharp and confusing, and the slides are designed to be diverse and dreamlike. I enjoyed what I got and saw what I could do to improve on these last days.
