This is an autobiographical graphic novel.  Raina told of what it was like getting braces while also dealing with crazy teenage problems.  In this story, Raina experiences an earthquake.  The author uses jagged panels to show that this was a dangerous time.

When one of the characters are speaking, there are speech balloons. These have a semi arrow that points to the person speaking. If a character is thinking something, that is in a speech balloon that has 3 dots instead of the arrow. The final type of text is just a box.
