Before the PDC meeting, I didn't know anything about the workshop. I just knew that this programme would help me for my self-development but how?I was feeling nervous naturally. But at the end of the 1st day I got it. My confidence got bigger.
And I also thought about my teaching and learning beaviours. I told myself that ‘ I will never be an old fashioned teacher, I will update me and my skills countinuously . I am gonna do more student-centered activities and make my students feel more comfortable in the classroom. To achieve this,I will adopt ice breaker activities (star, actionbound) form my local context.

My ideas about young learners haven't changed a lot actually as I'm already working with them ,but I have to admit that a few changes should be done. I mean that I will try to be a more patient, flexible teacher in the class. I will make more repetitions and speak English as much as possible. I will always keep in mind that they can be distracted easily. They are just kids and not able to manage their feelings or behaviour in the way adults can.

Real life conversations, drilling activities, child friendly dialogues which include social language, tounge twisters, chants and songs should be adapted in coursebooks to help children improve their oral skills.

I would change the aimless and meaningless dialogue activities with the motivating, interesting and more meaningful ones. If the roles are too long , shortenining them can be an option. In some situations they can create their own child friendly speech bubbles. Also adding different moods, extra drills and adapting more actions to the dialogues is a good idea. (In all stages teacher will scaffold the sts)

Using a little bit of phonics in young learners is useful I think ,especially with some sounds (sh,ch,c,w). Sts aren't aware of the relationship between words and the sounds they represent so with mini-funny activities we can get their attention to the point.
Story telling with the new sound , asking them to produce vocab.,using pictures or realias will be helpful for spelling awarness and saying the sound correctly.

Shared reading is a very good procedure with L2 children because it encourages sts ,model fluent reading behaviour and enable them to get the main points with the help of illustrations, action /demonstration and realia. Moreover we can create a friendly area ,increase curiosity ,introduce some vocab. and help them to practise predicting skills with shared reading.

In our early meetings , we may not carry of time management. Only after a few we can succeed in. Time limitation for each activity is crucial. Also involving all the participants to the activities can be a bit hard so planning is very important. We should be very well organized and have a plan B always for different learner styles.
And when giving feedback we should be positive, encouraging and constructive. My motto is 'Don't create resentment!'

Yes,it changed actually.I came to understand that tests create a stressful situation and early failure may damage their self- esteem. Their developing is consistently so the result may be misleading. That's why I have decided to design more child friendly tests and to combine the results with class records of progress. Assesment of learning should be the focus.
When giving feedback, especially the positive or positive informative ones I will be more generous . I don't mean overpraising. And if there is a mistake ,I will avoid immediate correction and overcorrection.
