         <description><![CDATA[<div>Cambodia was under French rule for 100 years until 1953 when they gained independence. In the 1960s, the country was populated over 7 million people who were all Buddhists and were under the rule of Prince Sihanouk. In 1970, Prince Sihanouk and his followers joined forces with a communist guerrilla organization and attacked Lon Nol's army which sparked a civil war.</div>]]></description>

You also get a lot of different blends of culture and beliefs. Those who refused re-education were killed in the fields surrounding the commune or at the prison camp, Tuol Sleng Centre. Over four years, the Khmer Rouge killed more than 1.7 million people through work, starvation, and torture. </div>]]></description>
