Fall of Rome in 476 AD - The germanic king Oboacer defeated the Roman empire in 476 AD. The Germanic barbarian king Oboacer deposed the last empire of the western empire in Italy, Romulus, Augustulus, and the Senate. sent the imperial insignia to the eastern Roman Emperor Zeno. The Byzantine Empire replaced Rome after it went down. After Rome fell the Byzantines maintained their Roman identity until they collapsed many years later.

Vikings first raid on Ireland - The vikings would rely on surprise. They would attack suddenly before villages or monasteries could prepare to fight back. Vikings longboats were designed so that their boats could land straight on a beach. This meant that the raiders could race straight up to their target. After the vikings settled down in the lands they conquered. By the 950’s the vikings had stopped raiding in Ireland and developed instead as traders and settled in the lands around their towns.

Black Death - The Black Death was a devastating global epidemic of bubonic plague that struck Europe and Asia in the mid-1300s. The plague arrived in Europe in October 1347, when 12 ships from the Black Sea docked at the Sicilian port of Messina. People gathered on the docks were met with a horrifying surprise. Most sailors aboard the ships were dead, and those still alive were gravely ill and covered in black boils that oozed blood and pus.

This is known as the Norman Conquest. Before William became the king of England, William I was one of the mightiest nobles in France as the duke of Normandy, but he is best remembered for leading the Norman Conquest of England in 1066, which changed the course of English history and earned him the sobriquet William the Conqueror.

It was a response to reports of persecution of Christian pilgrims and a perceived threat from the Seljuq Turks.

The dwindling Byzantine Empire came to an end when the Ottomans breached Constantinople's ancient land wall after besieging the city for 55 days. Mehmed surrounded Constantinople from land and sea while employing cannon to maintain a constant barrage of the city's formidable walls. On May 29, 1453, Constantinople fell to the Ottoman Turks. by 1453 Constantinople was basically doomed. They had less than 8000 defenders, including armed civilians and monks, facing a force of well over 50,000.
