         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Hábitat:</strong> Aguas dulces y templadas, especialmente en verano. Puede encontrarse en piscinas sin tratamiento adecuado o sistemas de agua caliente.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Patogenia:</strong> La infección inicia cuando el agua contaminada entra por la nariz. La ameba se dirige al cerebro utilizando el nervio olfatorio, provocando necrosis y grave inflamación en el tejido cerebral.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Síntomas: </strong>Aparecen entre 1 y 9 días tras la exposición, e incluyen fiebre, dolor de cabeza intenso, rigidez en el cuello, confusión, alucinaciones y pérdida de equilibrio. </p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Tratamiento:</strong> Antifúngicos y antiparasitarios como la anfotericina B y la miltefosina.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Hábitat: </strong>Se encuentra en suelos y aguas frescas, con riesgo de infección por contacto de la ameba con heridas abiertas o inhalación de polvo o agua contaminada.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Patogenia:</strong> La ameba entra en el cuerpo, accede al cerebro a través del torrente sanguíneo y causa inflamación y daño cerebral severo.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Síntomas:</strong> Los primeros signos incluyen dolor de cabeza, fiebre, y síntomas neurológicos como cambios de personalidad y convulsiones. La enfermedad progresa rápidamente y puede ser fatal.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Tratamiento:</strong> Pentamidina, miltefosina y azoles antimicótico, el tratamiento tiene éxito limitado.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Hábitat:</strong> Se encuentra en lagos, ríos, piscinas, sistemas de agua potable y en el polvo o suelo. Estos ambientes le proporcionan las condiciones necesarias para sobrevivir y potencialmente infectar a humanos.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Patogenia:</strong> En individuos inmunocomprometidos, puede invadir el sistema nervioso y causar encefalitis amebiana granulomatosa (GAE), una infección cerebral seria. También representa un riesgo para los usuarios de lentes de contacto, quienes pueden desarrollar queratitis, una infección ocular que puede progresar hasta la pérdida de visión si no se trata.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Síntomas:</strong> Provoca dolor de cabeza, fiebre y síntomas neurológicos que empeoran con rapidez. En el caso de la queratitis, los síntomas incluyen dolor en los ojos, visión borrosa y enrojecimiento, y pueden afectar gravemente la córnea.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Tratamiento:</strong> Medicamentos antimicrobianos específicos, aunque el tratamiento es prolongado y puede tener efectos secundarios. </p>]]></description>
