The first part of our text is about how the so called “brexiters”, if they cannot get any specific trade agreements with the EU, they have two options remaining to them- either try and make trade agreements with the rest of the world, or try to recreate the trade agreements with the former colonies, the commonwealth, as it is called.
It also talks about how big the empire was, and how it could be almost self reliant.

The text is also about how very few of the young generation (except the very few who are educated in the subject) actually knows what the empire actually was.
To people under 50 years old, the empire was just pink spots on the map, or places from where people who take the British peoples jobs come from.

The sixth page asks the question; how will the current generation be able to understand the Empire, the global issues and whether or not to vote for staying or leaving the EU? The article then proceeds to answer that the students will learn “how Britain has influenced the wider world” during their history lessons, however, these lessons are not reliable, since the history curriculum manages to avoid dealing with the actual impact of the empire on the colonized people. The article finally states that it is yet unknown what will happen economically, if the British people vote “yes” at the referendum, but maybe, if it is instead “no”, it will be a definitive farewell to the glorified ideas of the Empire and the British false perception of being a top dog.

At the end of the 19th century, Brits thought that with the help of the Europeans, Africa ws slowly being open up to the world again, through the knowledge of new technologies and scientific studies. It was duty of the British to provide competent rulers.
