Transitioning into Lesson and into Silent Reading

1. I will ask students to "Clap 3 times if you can hear me? Clap 1 time if you can hear me? Clap 0 times if you can hear me" Once my students do not clap, I will ask them to push in their chairs and tip toe to the carpet.

2. Once I join them on the carpet, I will then go into what we are going to learn today in reading by using an example that is easily relatable to the students. Such as the five elements of the story. For Example, Ms. High went to the park to have a picnic with her friends. I will then ask them who is the story about? Where was the story taking place? What happened in the story. After this we will then conduct our lesson.

3. Students will have an opportunity to share what they have learned to the class at the conclusion of the lesson.

4. Once completed, I will call students by their table color. "If you sit at the red table, I want you to move like a butterfly and grab your book box and sit at your number spot". Each table color gets a different movement.

5. Once students have gotten their book boxes, I'll play our quiet music and after certain amount of time has passed. I will inform them that they can partner read. Once the music is turned off, students will clean up, go to the bathroom and get prepared to go to lunch.

-Kourtney High
K-2nd

1. Students arrive at school via bus or car rider and enter the school.
2. Students who arrive early sit in the front of the building until the hear the first bell.
3. Students who eat breakfast will then go to the cafeteria. Students who have already eaten will go directly to their classrooms.
4. As students come into the classroom teacher meets them at the door for greeting.
5. Teacher greets each student with either a high-five or fist bump along with a greeting. The greeting will be, "Good morning, _______. It is good to see you today."
6. Students come in the room and unpack their bookbags and put things where they belong.
7. Morning work is displayed on the smartboard with instructions on what to do.
8. Students work quietly at their desks finishing up morning work.
9. When the warning bell rings, teacher states, "Class, that is our 5 minute warning. Please wrap up your morning work and be prepared to go over it in 5 minutes."
10. When the last bell rings, teacher comes in and says to the class, "We are now ready to start going over our morning work now."
11. We go over morning work as a class.
12. After morning work has been completed as a class, we transition to the front of the room for morning meeting.
13. Teacher does a clapping rhythm that students are familiar with that lets them know that we are transitioning to the front of the room for morning meeting.
14. Morning meeting is a group activity where we greet each other by looking directly at the person sitting next to you as we each say, "Good morning, ______."
15. After our greetings we then move on to:
Calendar
Weather

Stephanie Clair
Elementary K-2nd grade
