We have implemented some National Geographic readers in our grade 10 classes. All of these books are less than 50 pages, and are about the natural world, animals, and science. Maybe teachers could supplement Mickey's reading with these books to help capture his interests?

I think it's probably important for him to be seen reading things that don't come off as for younger readers, so this might not be the right way to go.

If it's ideas and motivation, we should recognize that a blank page is incredibly intimidating, especially for someone not confident in their writing.
