First Time In Space

May 5, 1961
To day is a mighty fine day to watch the sun appear from behind the Earth. Just the thought of being the first man in space has made me feel something bigger than words can describe. It is such a shame that I'm the only person able to witness this breath taking phenomenon. I'm still not used to the seeing the window drift as I float through the shuttle but is is something I have to endure to make sure that other people can witness what space has to offer. I wonder what the next mission will be when I return; I hope that it allows people to see the beauty of space and its limitless boundaries. It looks like I'm approaching the landing zone; This is not going to be fun.

This Is A Horrific Tragedy

April 13, 1970
Sadly I could not join my fellow astronauts Virgil Grissom, Edward H. White, and Roger Chaffee on this mission to space due to this dame ear infection. I hope that their time in space is just as wonderful as mine was when I made history that day. I'm going to watch them on the television as they inspire a new generation of future astronauts. How how could this happen? Why why did god decide to take these beave men's lives as they were descending from the Heavens. What could have caused this was their a malfunction with the rocket or a problem at ground controls level. They were such kind people why did they have to die; and to think that I was also supposed to be on that spacecraft. Their funerals will be the greatest loss in space exploration history. I wish them eternal happiness in heaven.

I Have Retired

August 1, 1974
I am retiring from NASA after Ten years of astonishing work. My time here has been some of the best time of my life. Thinking back now I have accomplished so much because of this company. I got to meet John F. Kennedy, hit golf balls on the moon, meet amazing people, and train new astronaut recruits. I don't want to retire but I know that I have given all I could to this company. I might volunteer my time to teaching the new astronauts but I never know where life will take me. I'm just glad that I could contribute to this great countries history. I still remember the first day I walked in to NASA. I was so nervous about what was going to happen and if I would get the job. I just hope that humanities admiration for the stars burns brighter and brighter the more we learn.
